Working on a variety of WSG client projects and internal product development, the GIS Analyst is responsible for spatial mapping, developing mapping applications and tools, and managing a digital library of geographic maps in various file types, along with other duties. This role detects geographic trends, analyzes data, and produces digitized maps to help WSG clients make informed business decisions. Adept at working directly with clients and possessing strong initiative and communication skills, the GIS Analyst assists in project requirements gathering, documentation, implantation, and delivery.

Essential Job Duties

  • Perform spatial data analysis and modeling using Esri suite of software
  • Publish feature services and create view layers in ArcGIS Online (AGOL) to share data with clients, while ensuring appropriate levels of access
  • Create dashboards using AGOL to support our clients with critical business decisions
  • Review data for currency, accuracy, usefulness, quality, and ensure completeness of documentation
  • Maintain or modify existing Geographic Information Systems (GIS) databases.
  • Collaborate with WSG colleagues to support implementation of WSG’s software products
  • Identify and document client requirements
  • Work with our software development team to convey, test, and improve the functionality of Woodland Solutions Group software products
  • Provide technical support to clients in support of our Software as s Service (SaaS) offerings
  • Automate workflow processes using Python or other tools, where appropriate
  • Clearly and concisely document processes to support internal project documentation as well as client knowledge bases and/or tutorials
  • Track tasks using JIRA
  • Actively participate in client meetings and internal team meetings
  • Other GIS and software support efforts as needed
  • Achieve weekly billable hours target
  • Proactively communicate if client work is becoming scarce, or if project hour overages are anticipated
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficiency using Esri products including ArcPro and ArcGIS Online for spatial data analysis
  • Data modeling skills
  • Ability to automate processes using Python scripting, Jupyter notebooks, or other coding tools
  • Competency using the Microsoft Suite of products
  • Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional qualitative skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Unwavering professionalism and client-focus commitment

Experience/Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS) in GIS, Forestry, Environmental Science, or related field, or an Associate’s degree and relevant professional experience
  • 2-3 years practical experience in a GIS-related industry
  • Experience using ESRI, GIS, and mobile mapping tools
  • Experience with Esri FieldMaps, Survey123, PowerBI, Remote Sensing, R, a plus
  • Experience using JIRA, a plus

Travel: Infrequent travel to client sites or Company meeting

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
