Global Banking Americas is BNP Paribas’ primary capital markets business, financing, cash management, and advisory services within the Corporate & Institutional Bank (CIB). Global Banking Americas encompasses global business lines across Global Credit Market Americas (DCM, LCM and Asset Financing & Securitization), Transaction Banking and Advisory Markets helping its franchise of clients find effective ways to raise and invest capital as well as manage exposure to risk.

The expected starting salary range for this position in New York City is between $165,000 to $189,000 annually.. Actual salary may vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills/experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business line, and geographic/office location.

Responsibilities:

The candidate filling this position will be part of the GBA Client development team supporting Corporate Americas client platform and more specifically Sector Teams and the head of GBA Strategy. As part of the GBA Client development team, the candidate will support the mission of Client Development to drive steady increases of wallet shares and client profitability with target clients through Client account plans, client segmentation, survey intelligence and gap analysis. The candidate will work closely with Sector Heads to prepare client performance packages & competitive analysis supporting the steering and development of sector and the platform. The candidate will promote the usage of the Client relationship management system for greater level of client intelligence through information-sharing. The candidate will design, develop, present performance and competitive analysis reports ensuring the integrity, consistency, usefulness, quality and speed of the delivery. This includes all performance and profitability metrics and analysis for various client units and regional client consolidation, competitive analysis for geographic, sector, product specific scope. The candidate will also support, from a project management perspective, delivery of selected business development initiatives. Work closely with Sector Heads, and Head of GBA Strategy and Business Management to promote a holistic approach to clients.


Market Intelligence

    • Analyze and prepare Competitive Analysis and Benchmarking studies to identify business growth opportunities, using outside data, across Corporate North America IB and FICC Wallet (Dealogic / Coalition)

Client Strategic Planning

    • Measure and monitor client profitability and client service intensity (CSI) - Develop a thorough understanding and contribute to the preparation of client activity performance and profitability management dashboards reports by client / sector / country / product for specific Corporate client scopes
    • Generate ad hoc analytical reports, summary schedules and contribute to management presentations
    • Support annual budgeting / forecasting process for assigned Sector teams: Prepare templates, Track and prepare recaps and analysis of budget projections by GBL/region/sector, Participate in Sectors revenue projection validation process, Prepare breakdown analysis and discussion materials for presentation and validation by management
    • Coordinate with Sector teams to answer questions and provide additional insight into client activity
    • Support Client Strategic planning helping identify priority accounts, capturing and analyzing critical information and acting as secretary during account reviews (minutes and actions)

Business Development Initiatives

    • Support or Help support your Corporate North-America Sector Head to drive the commercial strategy for the Sector
    • Support project delivery for selected business initiatives, with greater focus on managing day-to-day project activities under the direction of your manager and client stakeholders
    • Monitor cross selling initiatives, including supporting weekly local and global transversal business reviews (identify client coverage contacts, liaise with the coverage team and manage the meeting planner, organize documents for the meeting, capture growth and action items)
    • Assist with preparation of projections and tracking of initiatives developed under the Bank’s growth plan

Promotion of tools & digital developments

    • Promote self-service usage of client data resources and tools, including CRM and Tableau
    • Oversee the data referential, data quality and CRM initiatives for select sectors of focus
    • Digitalize Client Development practices and Sectors tools to drive efficiency and productivity, with support, where relevant, from digital teams
    • Liaise with GBA Data Analytics to prioritize the book of work and data analytics initiatives for GBA Corporate client franchise; facilitate dashboard development, identifying the scope and requirements to ensure management has accurate and complete MIS
    • Become an expert in the MIS tool of the Bank and leverage knowledge to bridge the intersection of client views and scopes across teams; provide guidance to Sector teams

Team development and positioning

    • Support head of GBA Strategy in implementing the GBA Sector Strategy across the region
    • Support head of team in driving synergies across Client Development, Client Analytics and Business Management
    • Clearly define roles within Client Development, leveraging each team member profile and strengths
    • Ensure appropriate training and ongoing coaching of team members
    • Increase visibility regionally and globally to maximize the traction around the client agenda
    • Ensure strong relationships with Sector bankers, business management, Client Analytics, business partners and Global Banking partners in other regions

Professional Experience

  • 3-6 years of relevant experience in Financial Services (Client / Business Development, Consulting, Strategy, Coverage, etc.)

Hard Skills:

  • Language skills:
    • Fluent in English

  • IT skills:
    • Superior MS Excel and Tableau skills are mandatory; knowledge of coding a plus
    • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint is mandatory
    • Comfortable with basic office tools (MS Outlook, MS Word)
    • An ability to quickly learn and understand the Bank’s systems that will be used on a daily basis

  • Profitability/Performance Management skills:
    • Highly comfortable with working with numbers: rigor, analytical mindset, ability to interpret numbers and synthesize. Ability to put numbers in perspective of other sources
    • Ability to easily interpret, create and communicate the underlying storyline behind the numbers in a succinct fashion for senior management
    • Capable of working with large data sources and ability to consolidate into concise, easy to understand charts/tables/graphs to be used by senior management
    • Ability to spot trends, outliers and/or inconsistent results with an analytical mindset
    • Background in finance and a working knowledge of banking products is a significant plus
    • Accounting and internal controls perspective for tying out and reconciliation of data
    • Highly skilled at taking rough guidelines and preparing the analysis or scenario discussed
    • Zeal for visualization and creating powerful, data-driven content that is appealing to end users
