This recruitment will be used to fill 10 part-time (a maximum of 20 hours per week) Global Community Kitchen Assistant positions for the Global Community Kitchen (GCK) at Oregon State University (OSU).
The Global Community Kitchen enhances campus programming by partnering with students to utilize food for cultural sharing, learning, and community building. The program provides advising, resources and support in the planning, development, and serving of food as the focus or a component of programming.
Position Duties

The program provides advising, resources and support in the planning, development, and serving of food as the focus or a component of programming.
- Facilitate relationships with students and student organizations
- Welcome users of the Global Community Kitchen and assist in orientation of guidelines for kitchen use
- Assist in the management of a commercial kitchen
- Setup and breakdown of food lines for events
- Maintain all Benton County Health food service sanitation and safety guidelines
- Other administrative projects and miscellaneous tasks as assigned

- Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
- Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
- Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
- High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
- Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
- Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
- Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
- Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*
- International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
- Prior food service or other customer service experience
- Expected to work frequent evening and weekend hours, as required, to support programming
- Will be working in a commercial kitchen environment, often lifting more than 50 lbs.
- Required to attend weekly staff meetings, supervisory meetings and professional development sessions
- Required to obtain an Oregon Food Handlers Card within 30 days of employment
- Experience engaging with Student Experiences & Engagement
- Experience with event and program planning
- Bi or Multilingual
- Passion and interest in food or foodservice
- Ability to work individually and collaboratively as part of a team
- Ability to take initiative and be self-motivated
- Ability to shift one’s approach when working with a variety of organizations and people from diverse cultures, communication styles, histories, and team structures
The anticipated starting hourly wage is $15.15/hr.
