Job Summary

The Global NPI Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Leader (Global AME) is a core member of the New Product Development Introduction (NPDI) teams. In this role, the Global AME will support the Racks line of business & collaborate with the cross functional teams globally to drive the Integrated Rack Solutions (IRS) product roadmap to support Vertiv’s growth initiatives within the Data Center infrastructure space. The right candidate will accomplish this by leading the industrial transformation & supply chain readiness activities according to the project schedule & time to market expectations. The individual in this position will be able to interpret the voice of customer and have experience in translating those requirements into several defined process areas including but not limited to Design for Manufacturing, FMEA analysis, supply chain mapping with optimization (lead time, cost, capital), prototyping & piloting, manufacturing facility layouts and product line testing.

Responsibilities :

  • Drives the industrial scope as it relates to the specific project requirements
  • Collaborates cross functionally and globally with NPDI & supply chain teams
  • Develops the overall Supply Chain Architecture to support the key customer requirements. Scope to include:
    • Value stream mapping of the entire process – including customer touch points (configurators/ordering tools)
    • Make vs. Buy studies from component & supply assembly level
    • Stock sizing optimization
    • Equipment, tools & fixture design/development & deployment
  • Provides feedback to the design team about Design for Manufacturability, assembly, test
  • Drives alignment to the Product Cost expectations throughout the NPDI project implementation
    • In region vs. out of region
    • Upstream supply chain material considerations (logistics, duties/tariffs, etc.)
    • Cycle time optimization
    • Downstream supply chain considerations (finished goods stock locations, logistics, etc.)
  • Develop production readiness plans to support the new product launch, including key milestones:
    • Manufacturing readiness – prototyping & piloting activities
    • Upstream & Downstream supply chain readiness – stocking decisions by region
  • Coordinate the manufacturing requirements of new parts, from project concept to release of new products
  • Work with Manufacturing Engineers and Materials teams to develop documentation for new products (bills of material, routings, manufacturing instructions and traceability requirements)
  • Initiate manufacturing technology innovations and oversee implementation, including new requirements for key processes that are unique to a new product design
  • Track and publish NPDI Deliverables using defined tools and databases
    • Operations Plans (control plans, work instructions, quality inspection criteria)
    • Manufacturing Process Flow Charts (supply chain mapping, value stream mapping)
    • Production Readiness Evaluations
    • Cost Analysis – cost estimates and standards costing
  • Responsible for Strategic Partners & ODM vendor industrialization
  • Collaborate on development of the new product final test architecture

Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering/Technology, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in a global operations organization (oversite/activities in multiple regions – manufacturing & supply chain)
  • Global scope – multiple operations/facilities
  • Experience in region for region manufacturing operations transfer (establishing capability in another region)
  • Knowledgeable in project management within in a new product development framework
  • Knowledgeable in New Product Design DFM/DFX, FMEA
  • Knowledgeable in Product Cost Management
  • Knowledgeable in electro/mechanical manufacturing (sheet metal, PCBA). (Preferred)
  • 10% Travel
