Job Responsibilities:

• Expertise in the areas of GPS, civil/military Instrument Flight Rules (IFR), Global Airspace Traffic Management (GATM), and development/ airworthiness qualification of avionics systems and subsystems used in Army aviation platforms.
• Knowledge in all aspects of GPS architecture, technology, and avionics development.

Education and General experience:

• BS Degree in a technical or engineering discipline plus 15 + years relevant experience
• Must have intimate knowledge of the Army’s airworthiness process and requirements, as well as having demonstrated implementation of such processes and requirements into existing PM AME navigation avionics, specifically for the Doppler GPS Navigation Set (DGNS) and Embedded GPS Inertial (EGI).
• Must have demonstrated working with a programmatic team in order to direct the implementation of A-PNT upgrades to the DGNS and EGI.
• Must have knowledge of the GPS threat for application into A-PNT development efforts for Anti-Jam (AJ) antenna, software resiliency, and GPS Modernization.
• Specific AJ antenna engineering knowledge must include the Small Antenna System (SAS) and Multiplatform Anti-Jam GPS Navigation Antenna (MAGNA) system.
• Must have expertise in all of the following Government and Non-Government standards: MSO-C145a, IS-GPS-099, IS-GPS-200, IS-GPS-246, RTCA DO-229B/D, RTCA DO-254, RTCA DO-178B, TSO-C129a, TSO-C196b, TSO-C146d, and RTCA DO-200.
• Must have technical cognizance of the GPS Security Classification Guide (SCG) and relate such guidance into material development and expert knowledge of operational and test GPS cryptographic key usage in the Army.
• Must be able to operate the DGNS and EGI, and its associated test equipment, and interface directly with Army operators, maintainers, and platform Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to investigate and resolve DGNS and EGI functional issues reported from users and simultaneously support multiple platform integrations.
• Must have expertise in IFR navigation requirements in civil and military airspace, as well as how the Aviation Mission Planning System (AMPS) provides the Digital Aeronautical Flight Information File (DAFIF) database (multiple Editions) to platforms, specifically to the DGNS, that is used to support Area Navigation (RNAV) implementation and flight planning.
• Must be expert on requirements definition included in the AMPS/DGNS interface definition, e.g. the DDR-IRS, to ensure airworthiness and airspace requirements are met.
• Must have used GPS/avionics expertise to review many EGI and DGNS technical documents, e.g. Prime Item Development Specification (PIDS), Interface Control Documents (ICD), Software Requirements Specification (SRS), and provide extremely detailed comments back to the vendor to meet program functional and performance requirements.
• Demonstrated the ability to work with AED and the GPS Directorate to achieve MSO certification and TSO equivalence assessment of navigation avionics.
• Ability to perform all functional duties independently.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and changing priorities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Clearance Requirements: Must have an Active Top Secret Security Clearance
