SUMMARY

The purpose of this position is to manage the grant writing team as they produce proposals and grant applications, perform responsible professional and administrative work in researching, identifying, and developing public and private grant opportunities for new and established grant-funding sources.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise Grant Writer(s); provide leadership to the grants team, including leading process improvement, distribution of work, and liaising with internal teams, where required.
  • Research public and private grant/funding opportunities; determine eligibility and requirements for grant proposal submission. Liaise with COO to obtain approvals to apply for new grant opportunities and grant renewals.
  • Lead proposal generation process including coordinating with key staff, writing compelling high-quality grant proposals, and ensuring all grant application requirements are met; monitor the status of grant applications, and communicate with program and administrative staff.
  • Research and identify information needed to support grant requests. Develop and create documents as required in response to Requests for Proposals. Strategize with program staff and leadership on ways to position and present the program in the application. Work as a team member in developing winning proposal strategies.
  • Review and edit proposals to ensure they are presented with clarity and simplicity.
  • Successfully execute multiple, simultaneous projects on time with quality results.
  • Maintain documentation of grant seeking and report activities using appropriate databases and shared folders.
  • Provide monthly reports to the Board of Directors with respect to the Grant department's progress.
  • Identify and develop strategies to optimize the grant process and familiarize Aunt Martha's staff with it.
  • Ensure Chief Strategy and Innovations Officer is kept informed of grant seeking activity.
  • Respond to requests for reports related to grant seeking activity.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Masters preferred.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in grant proposal development, program design, prospect research, needs assessment, and grant writing for federal, state, and local funders required (i.e., HRSA, HUD, grants.gov and etc.).
  • Demonstrated superior writing, editing, research, project management and organizational skills.
  • Must have a high level of computer literacy and experience using online databases and other sources to locate demographic, financial, and philanthropic information.
  • Strong project management and communication skills required with the ability to broker buy-in-from multiple stakeholders and capacity to frame complex situations and present options and ability to understand the needs of both the agency in need of funding and the organization that is offering the grant money.
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced environment and work collaboratively with staff located on- and off-site.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgement to plan and prioritize diverse workload and manage and track multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
