DEPARTMENT: DEPARTMENT OF MULTIMEDIA MINISTRIES
POSITION TITLE: GRAPHIC DESIGN SPECIALIST
STATUS: EXEMPT
GENERAL STATEMENT:
The Salvation Army is a branch of the Christian church, and the ultimate goal of all programs is a spiritual regeneration of all people.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal. Ability to work well with a variety of people.
- Should have an extensive portfolio of design work, including evidence of look and feel development, logo creation, and several design comps for the same project.
- Should be a self-starter and work with minimal supervision and have the ability to exercise independent judgment in matters pertaining to all aspects of graphic design. Must be able to work under the pressures of multiple deadlines.
- Should have the ability to develop designs and logos from spoken ideas and written text.
- Applicant must be able to provide digital files to send to printers for 4-color printing or other jobs that cannot be completed in house.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Must have extensive knowledge in the following programs:
- Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign)
- Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word
GENERAL DUTIES:
Graphic Design – the conceptualization, creation and production of materials for print, video and web. This will include creation of logos, posters, brochures, websites, etc. for various departments and sections at THQ and Crestmont. Work closely with and take instruction from the Senior Graphic Design Specialist.
1. Desktop Publishing - creation and production of manuals, Territorial Planning Calendar, briefs, layouts and presentation materials using Microsoft PowerPoint and other programs.
2. Keep up with current trends in graphic design in order to maintain a high standard of design quality.
3. Oversee the in-house production of materials, including ability to operate the department printer.
4. Create graphics and PowerPoint presentations that are used for various meetings and conferences. This entails creating a design and graphics from a given script.
5. Work alongside other multimedia staff in creation of multi discipline projects, including graphics for video, motion graphics, thumbnails, end credits, etc.
6. Assist other THQ departments with special projects as assigned.
7. Keep up to date with “industry standards” and advances in desktop publishing.
