JOB DESCRIPTION
Rivendale Farms is seeking a grower for the role of Greenhouse Assistant. This position reports to the Greenhouse Manager and provides primary support of all day-to-day operations of our 14,500 sq ft hydroponic greenhouse. With the central aim of supplying our 30+ customer farm share program and the in-house Rivendale culinary team with a wide variety of fresh produce year-round, the Greenhouse
Assistant will engage with all aspects of growing mixed vegetables within each of the greenhouse systems. Crops include tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers, as well as root crops, strawberries, leafy greens, and a variety of herbs.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
● Assist Greenhouse Manager and Crop Production Manager to implement consistent succession crop planning for year-round production of all greenhouse crops
● Succession seeding, transplanting, pruning, trellising, and harvesting
● Assist with irrigation installation, maintenance and repair
● Assist with pest scouting, identification, and control
● Assist with fertility management and monitoring
● Regular cleaning and maintenance of hydroponic systems and equipment

POSITION SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
● 1-3 years relevant experience or education required
● Must be a hard-working team player with an energetic and positive attitude. Ability to work unsupervised/independently once trained and oriented to the role is strongly desired.
● Have or be willing to acquire a private applicators license for the as-needed application of OMRI-approved pesticides and fungicides (used in tandem with releases of beneficial insects) as part of our Integrated Pest Management practices

● Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed to monitor greenhouse systems
● Comfortable working on a ladder
● Able to lift 50 lbs and be comfortable working in variable weather conditions on occasion
● Able to stand for extended periods of time

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
● Able to pass a background check
● Must be fully vaccinated as currently defined by the CDC
● All applicants should be comfortable around livestock (including chickens, pigs, Great Pyrenees dogs, and cattle) and typical farm machinery

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
