Company Role
(Mission)
· To secure the best price and value on Grocery/DSD/GM/HBC/Liquor products for our Sav Mor customers.
· To ensure that the product selection stays true to the Sav-Mor Mission Statement.
Department Role
(Accountabilities)
· Manages product selection, placement and pricing strategies of the Grocery,DSD, GM/HBC and Liquor Departments to achieve budgeted sales, profits and inventories.
· Represents the company in a positive professional manner with industry leaders, major suppliers, sales reps, customers and associates
· Manages Recall programs and inspections
· Assists in the marketing initiatives and measuring the results
· Assists in the company logistics and supply procurement
· Develop new business opportunities by analyzing industry trends and identifying new products or services that could be offered to customers.
Daily Work Roles
(Accountabilities)
· Communicates with vendors and sales reps
· Communicates with company associates
· Analyzes movement data for trends in sales, grosses, shrink and inventory
· Devises and implements plans on promotions, product selection, deals, regular costs, retails and margins
· Manages selection and placement of product to the benefit of the Sav-Mor Mission statement
· Works with government agencies on compliance with WIC, weights and measures, health codes, recalls
· Visits stores regularly to review programs and procedures
· Troubleshoots vendor/store/logistics problems
· Work with staff members to manage costs, deals and retails competitively
Role with CMO
· Work with CMO to establish merchandising, pricing, marketing plans, programs and strategies for Sav-Mor.
· Report and review sales, GP, inventory and shrink vs. budget by store and total department by week & Qtr.
· Reviews categories and schematics to find solutions to increase sales, GP, reduce shrink etc…
· Review and get approval on promotional and bulk buying opportunities, needs, quantities and expected results
· Communicate merchandising plans/calendars.
· Provide input on new ideas, strategies, programs that would enhance both sales and profitability
· Provide expertise of department for product, trends, vendors etc…
· Communicate issues/areas of concern of programs, strategies, OOS’s and merchandising at stores
Role With
Buying Team
(Accountabilities)
· Meet with Holiday Grocery Buyers to assist in development of plans for promotions, merchandising opportunities, competitive pricing, inventories, and tracking
· Work with Sav-Mor Perishable Buyer to execute total store programs
· Assist in the measurement of the promotional programs, and inventory goals
Role with Vendors
. Development of mutually beneficial relationships with grocery industry leaders, suppliers, sales reps, and vendors to obtain the best possible terms.
· Work with vendors to obtain and implement promotional programs to execute the Sav-Mor Mission.
· Develop and implement new items, vendors, and planograms
· Manage delivery and payment issues with vendors
Role with Store Leaders
· Create, participate in and communicate purchasing and marketing programs
· Assist with purchasing and bridge buying for maximum sales and profits
· Develop item selection and planograms to enhance the store merchandising
· Work with and assist in execution of plans/programs
· Work together on weak areas to achieve budget and to increase overall department contribution
· Maintain accountabilities with grocery manager daily duties and grocery production schedules.
· Assist in planning and execution of the grocery merchandising planner.
Role with Division VP’s
· Work with Division VP to execute employee development strategies to ensure consistency in the department as well as the On Deck Training Program.
· Assist in customer service-related issues that are relevant to the department.

Pay: $125,900.00 - $155,900.00 per year
