About the Organization THE NC STATE UNIVERSITY CLUB FACILITY WAS DEDICATED IN 1961 AND SERVES NC STATE SUPPORTERS INCLUDING FACULTY, STAFF AND ALUMNI. THE FACILITY WAS BUILT ON LAND LEASED FOR 99 YEARS FROM THE STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA. FUNDING WAS MADE POSSIBLE BY A GIFT FROM THE Z. SMITH REYNOLDS FOUNDATION INC. THE FACILITY AND RECREATIONAL VENUES ARE SITUATED ON APPROXIMATELY 45 ACRES OF LAND IN WAKE COUNTY. THE CLUB IS A UNIQUE, FAMILY-ORIENTED FACILITY CONTROLLED AND GOVERNED AS A PRIVATE CLUB BY THE MEMBERSHIP. AMENITIES INCLUDE; FULL BANQUET AND DINING FACILITIES TO INCLUDE A FULL -SERVICE SNACK SHOP, 25 METER POOL WITH SLIDE AND DIVING BOARD, 9 TENNIS COURTS, FITNESS CENTER, 9-HOLE EXECUTIVE PAR 3 GOLF COURSE.


Description

Responsible for implementing the direction given by the Grounds Director in the and maintenance of the grounds and Golf Course of the North Carolina State University Club. To maintain a high quality golf course and manicured landscaped grounds that are within proper standards for member satisfaction. This position requires working knowledge of golf course maintenance, landscaping procedures/use/application of pesticides/fertilizers, irrigation, and safe use of equipment.

• Completing assigned tasks that may include but not limited to: Tennis court (Har-Tru) Grounds and Golf Course, standard maintenance practices as deemed by the Grounds Superintendent.
• Completing assigned tasks and ensuring all check lists and assigned work is completed on a daily basis.
• Completing assigned tasks that may include but not limited to the care and maintenance of the turf, ornamental plants, shrubs, trees and flowers on the facility grounds.
• Completing assigned tasks that may include but not limited to the planting of new vegetation, replacing, spraying, pruning and trimming of trees and shrubs and the preparation of soil plant beds for aesthetically pleasing arrangements.
• Completing assigned tasks that may include but not limited to the construction and or maintenance of the club grounds, including but not limited to all tennis court areas (indoor and outdoor), pool and playground areas, all club lawn areas and the landscaping (including flowers, shrubs, mulch, etc).
• Completing assigned tasks that may include but not limited to proper irrigating of turf, tennis courts and plant material (trees, shrubs, flowers, etc.), the operation and maintenance of pump and in the maintenance and repairs of irrigation system.
• Completing assigned tasks that may include properly applying pesticide or fertilizer.
• Completing assigned tasks that may include the cleaning and maintenance of the member and staff restrooms located in the ground building.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with management and staff.
• Listens to, then responds to the comments, requests and questions from the members and the staff of the club. Communicate with the customers and solicit their input (good or bad).
• Makes sure that the member leaves satisfied; settles any disputes while maintaining good customer relations.
• Maintains a safe, clean and healthy environment for all the members, guests and staff, ensuring all safety rules are followed.
• Must be available to work off hours in order to facilitate proper and or emergency maintenance.
• Must be available to work additional hours during special events or sporting venues.
• Controls cost by properly maintaining equipment.
• Adhere to the dress code and all of NCSUC policies .
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Grounds Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent

MINIMUM EDUCATION:

preferred H.S. Diploma / Equivalent or

1+ years experience in related field

EXPERIENCE:

Knowledge of the methods, techniques, tools, materials, and equipment used in golf type horticulture, landscape maintenance, and turf grass management.

EQUIPMENT USED:

All equipment typically used in commercial golf course and tennis court maintenance and cleaning of facilities.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Able to work with little supervision. Long periods of standing, bending, crouching, reaching. Must be able to lift 50+ pounds. Work in non-temperature controlled environments. Must be able to work around time requirements required at a private club environment.

COMMUNICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Active listening skills and ability to articulate information both verbally and in writing. Communication skills to effectively develop member/customer relationships.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Normal speech, hearing, and vision.

SAFETY:

Follow all North Carolina State University Club safety programs, safety guidelines, policies and procedures. Wear, use and enforce all NCSUC personal protection equipment (PPE) as needed on specific jobs and tasks.

Beware of chemical safety and be familiar with all pertinent Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) of chemicals which are used in the workplace.

Follow all NCSU safety rules including all local, state and federal regulations as they pertain to work at NCSUC.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Must be willing to work weekends and holidays. Ability to work on several tasks simultaneously; maintain composure when dealing with stressful situations; Must have reliable transportation,

Honesty and absolute confidentiality required.

CERTIFICATE: (Preferred but not required) Turf Management, Pesticide application certification. Valid NC driver's license.
