SEASONAL GROUNDS MAINTENANCE WORKER
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
§ Experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, or similar role
§ High School Diploma or equivalent (copy required upon hire)
§ Yearly Physical (required within 1 month of hire)
§ Valid NYS Driver’s License (copy required upon hire)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
§ Ability to operate and do minor repairs on mechanical equipment
§ Good communication and organizational skills
§ Experience working with adolescents
HOURS:
§ Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
§ Must be flexible to meet the needs of the program
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
§ Be able to handle all the physical responsibilities of the position, which includes but is not limited to lifting, moving, and prolonged periods of standing
§ Must tolerate working in outdoor weather conditions.
OBJECTIVES OF POSITION:
§ Perform general maintenance of the campus grounds including lawn care and landscaping
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Trade Specific:
A. Perform general grounds maintenance such as cutting grass, trimming and pruning trees and shrubs, spraying for disease and insect control, and applying fertilizer.
B. Perform landscaping tasks such as planting trees, bushes, and shrubs; weeding newly landscaped areas; and spreading landscaping materials such as mulch and rocks.
C. Perform minor repairs on grounds maintenance equipment.
D. Empty campus trash containers; rake and disposes of leaves and debris from campus grounds.
E. Assist in moving and storage of furniture and equipment.
F. Properly use equipment, material, and tools in a safe and professional manner
G. Perform related duties as assigned by the supervisor

The William George Agency for Children’s Services is located on a 650-acre campus nine miles northeast of Ithaca, in the Finger Lakes Region of New York State. It is a private not-for-profit residential treatment center licensed by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) that serves both male and female youth between the ages of 12 and 21, and their families, who present with significant mental health issues, behavioral difficulties, and substance abuse issues. Our programs offer an array of treatment modalities specifically designed to meet the needs of our youth.
