Weitsman Shredding, a division of Weitsman Family of Companies, the East Coast's largest privately held scrap metal processor, is currently looking for an experienced Groundsman in our Owego NY location. We are paying "TOP WAGES" for experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanics. Position Overview:

• Mechanically inclined, able to do or assist in equipment repair, such as conveyors
• Able to constantly inspect equipment while system is operating
• Flexible shift and long hours
• Available to work on weekends and shift change if needed
• Flexibility on duty assignments
• Able to work outdoors; in a sometimes dusty, muddy, hot or cold environment, etc.
• Able to operate a skid-steer (Bob Cat), Telehandler or Forklift is a plus

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Knowledge of Safety/OSHA guidelines and adherence for your safety and others.
• Must have the willingness to go the extra mile learning the scrap metal recycling industry.
• Metals knowledge preferred, but not required.
• Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions, work independently and multitask.
• Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
• Flexible to work off hours, overtime, and weekends, in an industrial environment which may include being outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Ability to walk on uneven work surfaces.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs., bend, stretch, stand for extended periods of time, climb stairs, reach, twist, sit, walk, and/or run.
• Must be willing to cross-train in various positions, be self-motivated, possess good work ethics and have the ability to work with a team.
• Must have reliable transportation to work.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen test, background check and fit-for-duty test if needed.

Safety:

This position requires the following personal protective equipment be worn at all times:

• Safety glasses.
• Head protection.
• Hard toed work boots.
• High visibility safety vest.
• Other protective equipment as required.

Work Environment:

The work environment is:

• Primarily outdoors
• Occasionally loud (in excess of 90dB)
