JOB SUMMARY:
The Group Sales Representative is responsible for administering the sales function to ensure achievement of sales and revenue goals and provision of quality service to customers; develops sales leads for group bookings in order to provide Seneca Casinos with business consistent with targeted clients and volume levels and needs. The position will pro-actively facilitate all aspects of sales cycle with prospects: contact, presentations, proposals and responses.
The Group Sales Representative will be responsible for the following: Researching, analyzing and telemarketing prospective clients ~ identifying business opportunities ~ planning and executing sales ~ conducting outside local sales calls and site inspections with potential accounts ~ researching, negotiating and answering incoming requests. All functions will be performed within the guidelines of the Seneca Gaming Corporation’s policies and procedures, Internal Control Standards and objectives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Solicit and book programs which maximize revenue for rooms, food and beverage, meeting room rental, gaming revenue, etc.
- Finalize contracts with clients
- Make Sales Calls to promote facilities including appointments in your own location as well as occasional trips to other locations for Tradeshows, Familiarization Events, Site Inspections, etc.
- Conduct site inspections, entertain clients, make presentations and participate in any customer familiarization events promoting Seneca Gaming Corporation.
- Research, qualify and generate new group business within the market through telephone solicitation, outside sales calls, trade shows and various client events.
- Conduct and arrange site inspections to meeting planners and other prospective clients.
- Meet individual and team booking goals.
- Complete Prospecting calls across various regions, covering a broad range of market segments.
- Inputs all information into Delphi/Amadeus.
- Travel required
- Pre & Post trip reports (including expense reports) are completed and submitted on time.
- Consistently meet measurable objectives for properties sales growth and assigned sales goals.
- Create demand for Seneca Casino properties and increase sales revenue by driving the Seneca Casino’s brand.
- Personally lead and close high volume account sales opportunities with the intent to gain market share.
- Persistently work toward unquestionable customer retention and satisfaction that will result in customers being enthusiastic references, thus increase brand awareness.
- Create strong collaborative partnerships with property operations that work to accomplish their goals while continuing to build brand identity and delivery in day to day operations.
- Consistently communicate with team and drive superior performance.
- Act as support network for group sales, assisting them in meeting and exceeding all goals and objectives.
- Make sound business decisions and negotiate all terms of each sales contract effectively and according to departmental policies and procedures.
- Attend and participate in the various related trade shows, client events, seminars and work with various industry and community organizations such as area CVBs, Chambers of Commerce, hotel partners, Conference Center partners etc., to foster relationships and partner on appropriate client events and trade shows.
- Prepare and maintain business background and information on all clients.
- Prepare and maintain existing files, records, correspondences and reports to ensure compliance with established departmental policies and procedures.
- Communicate and coordinate all details of each account with Convention Services, as well as other departmental personnel to ensure quality guest service.

- Perform all other related and compatible duties as assigned.
- Cooperate with the Seneca Gaming Authority to ensure compliance with all rules and regulations of the Seneca Gaming Corporation.
- Maintain a current understanding of all policy and guidelines regarding information security including the Seneca Gaming Corporation Acceptable Use Policy. Understand and comply with all information security policies and procedures at all times.
- Provide exceptional customer service to all patrons and communicate in a pleasant, friendly and professional manner at all times. Maintain a professional work environment with supervisors, managers and team members.
- Meet the attendance guidelines of the job and adhere to regulatory, departmental and company policies.
- Must complete all required SGC Training programs within nine (9) months from commencement of employment.
- Attend all necessary meetings.
- Duties, responsibilities, requirements and expectations pertaining to this job are subject to change as needed. Hours are determined by a 24-hour schedule.
Position Requirements
Education/Experience:
- Must be 18 years of age or older upon employment.
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college/university in an appropriate field of study preferred.
- Two (2) plus years of proven success in a hotel sales role preferred.
- An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above requirements.
- Must achieve and maintain assigned sales goals.
- Must have proficient computer skills.
- Must have excellent presentation and customer service skills.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and be able to substantiate a safe driving record within the parameters acceptable to our liability insurance carrier.
Language Skills and Reasoning Ability:
- Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills required to interact effectively with clients, management, and other departments.
- Must possess creative public speaking skills necessary to conduct on-site tour inspections and presentations to groups of potential clients at trade shows, client events, as well as to conduct outside personal sales calls.
- Must possess well-developed sales techniques and negotiation skills needed to persuade clientele to book tours on open dates.

- Must possess tactful problem solving skills with the ability to apply ingenuity and creativity.

- Must be able to stand, walk, and move through all areas of the casino/hotel.
- Maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude to work under pressure in a fast-paced, casino/hotel environment and effectively deal with customers, management, employees, and members of the business community in all situations.
- Must have adequate manual dexterity to operate office equipment.
- Occasional light lifting required. Ability to transport supplies and equipment to trade shows with assistance when needed.
- Travel up to 50% is required. Must be able to attend trade shows throughout the U.S. and Canada.
