The Gymnastics Coach is responsible for the daily operation of the Gymnastics program. Daily functions include program participant instruction. In addition, every position in the YMCA of Coastal Georgia, Inc is responsible for upholding the Judeo-Christian principles that are central to our mission by modeling behaviors that exemplify the four pillars of character - caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

  • Scheduling, organizing, managing and teaching all gymnasts for the competitive.
  • Recruiting, training and developing program participants for competition.
  • Responsible for all choreography needs for the team events.
  • Supervising coaches for all events.
  • Assist in the overall retention and satisfaction of YMCA members through appropriate customer service.
  • Assist in the Annual Campaign fundraising program for the YMCA.
  • Maintain a positive and cheerful attitude with staff, peers and program participants.

  • Sound working knowledge of accepted fitness standards and practices including gymnastic techniques.
  • Ability to develop and implement gymnastic programs.
  • Ability to supervise multiple staff and volunteers.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain authorization to work with children under the Georgia Department of Labor and YMCA guidelines

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Gymnastics certification.
  • CPR and First Aid required within 30 days of employment
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain authorization to work with children under the Georgia Department of Labor and YMCA guidelines
