Reporting to the VP of Hardware Engineering, this position will help shape the future of the company’s product offerings. This position requires someone with detailed knowledge and experience with VoIP/analog telephony who likes problem solving and thinking independently because no two days are alike as you tackle new challenges and work with some amazing people within our organization!

MarketSpark is the industry leader in providing cellular-based solutions to traditional telephony circuits. You'll recognize many of the names on our customer list as we provide solutions to a large percentage of the Fortune 100 enterprises. We've assembled a veteran team with offices in San Diego, Chicago, and Boston, but this particular position can be remote for the right individual.

Responsibilities

• Perform testing of MarketSpark hardware devices to ensure successful interworking with alarm panels, phone systems, fax machines, modems, and other types of analog telephony equipment
• Design and test MarketSpark hardware solutions, which may include commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) and/or custom equipment, including but not limited to analog voice gateways/ATAs, T1/E1 gateways, VoIP telephones, analog ring boosters, cellular routers, and supervisory devices
• Identify and recommend best practices for provisioning, installing, and troubleshooting MarketSpark hardware solutions
• Build and maintain remote-capable hardware lab including company products, third party products, and various test equipment
• Serve as a subject matter expert/reference for Tier 2 technical support and Senior Sales staff
• Provide input to the Senior Leadership Team for corporate product roadmap and strategy
• Manage regulatory compliance (UL, FCC, etc) projects if necessary
• Minimal to moderate travel required as necessary to visit other MarketSpark offices and potentially key customer sites

Experience

• Bachelors degree or related experience in Electrical, Electronics, Computer, or Telecommunications Engineering, Applied Science, or Computer Science
• Working directly with customers to resolve their technical issues
• Designing customer solutions
• Testing of new software/firmware to ensure proper functionality
• Installation/maintenance of various telephony and/or networking gear from companies such as Adtran, Sangoma, Patton, Audiocodes, Grandstream, DataRemote, Viking, Valcom, Avaya, Mitel, Ribbon, Cisco, Fortinet, Oracle, Nokia, etc.
• Troubleshooting/support of various WAN/LAN protocols, including the use of Wireshark to diagnose and resolve issues.

• Various areas of technical knowledge:
• voice technologies and protocols including FXS, FXO, E&M, FAX, Modem, VoIP, SIP, RTP, UCaaS, VoLTE, etc.
• networking technologies and protocols including routers, switches, firewalls, LANs, WANs, Ethernet, Fiber, TCP/IP, ICMP, SMTP, SNMP, MQTT
• various operating systems including Windows, MAC OS, and Linux
• scripting languages and development including Python, BASH, etc.

• Bonus: industry knowledge and experience with fire and burglar alarm panels and their communications protocols such as ContactID, SIA, 4/2, etc.
• Bonus: industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, CISSP, CompTIA A+/Security+, etc.
• Bonus: knowledge of embedded hardware (schematics, PCB layout, CPUs, DSPs, digital/analog design) and/or software (C/C++, assembly, kernels, embedded Linux)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
