Position Summary:
Are you ready to join a collegial athletic training team that operates out of a state of the art sports medicine facility? The University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) Seawolf Athletics is seeking applicants to join our team as the Head Athletic Trainer. The UAA Seawolf athletic program is a multidivisional member of the NCAA, with 13 teams competing at the Division I and Division II levels.Duties:
The University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) Department of Athletics, located in the Alaska Airlines Center and the Seawolf Sports Complex, is committed to building and supporting a diverse division focused first and foremost of assisting all Seawolf student-athletes in meeting their academic and athletic goals and preparing each for entering the work force and making a positive contribution to her/his community following their years at UAA. - Expert knowledge and skills pertaining to written and verbal communication; teaching and counseling; problem solving; technical computer application; collaborating in verbal and written form; delegation; conflict resolution strategies; management; accounting; record keeping; evaluating; interpersonal; diplomacy; personnel procedures and regulations. Ability to supervise.
- Ability to travel. Ability to work evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays.
- Expert knowledge and skills to provide comprehensive patient care in the five domains of clinical practice: prevention; clinical evaluation and diagnosis; immediate and emergency care; treatment and rehabilitation; and organization and professional health and well-being.
- Expert knowledge, skills, clinical abilities, professional behaviors and proficiencies in the following areas identified within athletic training education competencies: evidence-based practice, prevention and health promotion, clinical examination and diagnosis, acute care of injury and illness, therapeutic interventions, psycho-social strategies and referrals, health care administration, and professional development and responsibility.
- Knowledge of National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) Role Delineation Study and NATA best practices required.
- Knowledge of applicable National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and various conference (e.g., GNAC, MPSF, RMISA, etc.) rules and regulations preferred.
Required:
Master's degree with an academic major (or graduate equivalent major program) that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE), or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
NATABOC (National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification).
State of Alaska Athletic Training Licensure or must obtain completion ASAP and within 30 days of the job start date.(required to practice in the State of Alaska).
GNAC and NCAA required learning modules completed within 30 days of the job start date.
FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) certification or certification completion within 30 days of the job start date.
Applicant must possess an unrestricted Alaska driver's license (and CDL with endorsements as required) or be able to obtain an unrestricted Alaska driver's license within 60 days of accepting the job. In addition, the applicant must meet UAA's safe driving criteria.
This is a full-time, 12-month, term-funded, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. New hires will be placed on the UA staff salary schedule, Grade 80, based on education and experience.
