Position Summary
Oversee personnel and programs responsible for the protection of personnel, property, reputation and assets. The overall objective is to help the company achieve its overall objectives, free from distraction, without compromising the safety and security of our people and business. This includes, but is not limited to:
  • Define duty of care-based standards and structure to ensure the organization meets its moral obligations/legal obligations in everywhere the enterprise operates
  • Primary liaison with law enforcement and federal level agencies (domestic and international)
  • Overall budgetary oversite and allocation authority
  • Physical Security – establish policy and framework for security technology architecture, cyber security, monitoring, maintenance, and response
  • Provide strategic intelligence related to prominent risks that can impact AIG life, property, and business operations (natural disaster, political risk, crime, terrorism, internal threat, client threats, etc.); goal is always to appropriately understand and mitigate risks
  • Executive oversite of all investigations related to theft, property damage, workplace threats/violence, external threats, kidnap, ransom, extortion, etc.
  • Executive level involvement and oversight with respect to specific employee focused insurance coverages (i.e. Kidnap, Ransom, and Extortion & Business Travel Accident)
  • Maintain constant state of preparedness in order to be able to respond to any crisis scenario impacting personnel, property, and/or business interests
  • Align organizational objectives with peer departments (Resiliency, HR, ER, Legal, etc.) – oversee and execute cross functional training
What you need to know:
Minimum years of experience needed
  • 10+ years of corporate security management experience required
  • Prior military, federal law enforcement, intelligence, or other commensurate experience preferred
Education needed
  • Tertiary qualification in applicable field (i.e., international relations, global security)
  • Master’s qualification in applicable field preferred
Special skills needed
  • Strong base of contacts with law enforcement agencies and private security
  • Experience and expertise in developing crises response strategies/executing crises response plans
  • Well-rounded experience within a variety of corporate security disciplines (technology, investigations, crises response, travel security, guarding, executive protection, training, etc.)
  • Strong, legal based Duty of Care philosophy
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of current global geopolitical activity, threat conditions, and government structures
  • Exceptional people management skills are a must
  • Experience managing departmental budgets and managing projects
  • Analytical with strong business acumen
  • Well-developed communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills – team building/relationship management is a key attribute and required for success
Special certifications needed
  • Membership in a senior security association/group preferred (i.e. ISMA, CSO Center for Leadership and Development)
  • Certified Protection Professional (CPP) preferred
