SUMMARY:

This position assures that through a systematic outreach process, eligible children and families will be enrolled in the Head Start (HS) and Early Head Start (EHS) Programs. The HS/EHS Manager will also oversee the Head Start transportation services and the Head Start Health and Safety Standards using guidelines set forth by the Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Children and Families. The HS/EHS Manager will have cultural sensitivity to the surrounding tribal community.

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all minimum requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, related field, or must obtain a bachelor's degree in ECE or related field within two years of hire.
• Must obtain a credited curriculum training within one year of hire.
• One to two years in the fields of Health and Safety &/or Head Start/EHS.
• Must have knowledge of ERSEA standards and experience in implementing Head Start performance standards.
• Must have experience in supervision in a work setting.
• Must be First Aid/CPR certified or willing to obtain within 90 days of hire.
• Must have valid Kansas driver's license and be insurable with the Nation's insurance.
• Must obtain a valid Kansas CDL Class B driver's license within one year of hire.
• Ability to work directly with childcare providers (home and center) and families.
• Sensitivity to young children, families, and community on and near the Prairie Band Potawatomi Reservation.
• Must have strong organizational skills.
• Ability to improve skills on an ongoing basis.
• A record of satisfactory attendance and performance in all prior and current employment.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's degree in in Early Childhood Education
• Two to five years in the fields of Health and Safety &/or Head Start/EHS.
