Job description
The Community Center Health Educator (Onsite) instructs or coach's groups or individuals in health education activities. The Health Educator works assignments are varied and frequently require interpretation and independent determination of the appropriate courses of action.
Responsibilities
The Health Educator demonstrates techniques and form, observe participants, and explain to them corrective measures necessary to improve their skills.
- Facilitate and lead health education classes
- Facilitate and lead member recreational activities such as bingo, dominos, painting, etc
- Collaborate with programming team to develop new ideas to bring to the center
- Assist Center Manager and Activities Coordinator with greeting and directing visitors
- 1 on 1 training
- Setup calendar
- Work with the coordinator/front desk
- Help with front desk
- Work with around 40 members
- Conduct Telephonic outreach to engage members, develop relationships and increase member onsite participation
- Other special projects as assigned

Required Qualifications
- 1 or more years of experience in effective delivery of Healthcare Education and/or Wellness programs. Experience teaching wellness and/or exercise classes (Preferably with seniors)
- Fully Bilingual English/Spanish. Must be able to speak, read and write in both languages without limitations or assistance. (If selected for the position, you will be required to take a Language Proficiency Assessment in English/Spanish. See Additional Information on testing)
- Bachelors in Health, Health Education, Nursing, Social Work or Education
- Previous experience in teaching, training, mentoring and/or facilitating
- Collaborate with various levels of the organization internally and in the community
- Exceptional interpersonal, public speaking and presentations skills
- Strong technical knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Strong attention to detail and exceptional follow up skill
- Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences
- Humana and its subsidiaries require vaccinated associates who work outside of their home to submit proof of vaccination, including COVID-19 boosters. Associates who remain unvaccinated must either undergo weekly negative COVID testing OR wear a mask at all times while in a Humana facility or while working in the field.
Preferred Qualifications
- CHES certification, or the ability to obtain certification, based upon relevant education
- Prior experience conducting Diabetes, Heart Disease and similar education classes for the Senior population
Additional Information
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Language Proficiency Testing (English/Spanish): Any Humana associate who speaks with a member in a language other than Spanish and/or English must take a language proficiency assessment, provided by an outside vendor, to ensure competency. Applicants will be required to take the Interagency Language Rating (ILR) test as provided by the Federal Government.
Uniqueness of the job: Health Educator/Fitness Class Instructor 2 can decide what curriculum they want to develop based on the members needs at their assigned location.

Your recorded interview(s) via text and/or pre-recorded voice will be reviewed and you will subsequently be informed if you will be moving forward to next round of interviews.
