Job Title: High School Coordinator

Reports to: Youth Program Director

FLSA: 18 hours per week

Department: Youth Program Services

Pay: $20 - $22 per hour, depending on experience

Summary:

Under the supervision of the Youth Program Director, the High School Coordinator is responsible for the development and implementation of the Hall Neighborhood House L.E.A.D.S. Academy (High School Program), and is also responsible for the primary supervision of all students in our programs. The High School Coordinator will be responsible for the daily administration and operation of the program: ensuring the well-being and safety of all students and providers, giving support and feedback to the Youth Director, and filling out paperwork and maintaining daily logs to ensure a fun and safe environment for all students and volunteers.

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Current child CPR certificate and training.
  • Must be available to work from Mondays to Fridays, or three days a week at minimum.
  • Must have experience working with high school students.
  • Must be able to drive (current valid driver's license).
  • Must be able to work the entire summer program from July 15 to August 15.
  • Must also be able to work 3-4 days a week during the school year; the high school program runs during after school hours (3:30pm to 6:00pm).

Responsibilities:

  • Create a plan to recruit students from local Bridgeport high schools to attend the program weekly.
  • Prepare weekly lessons, activities or trips to teach the students lessons about academic, professional & personal development (2 lessons per week).
  • (SCHOOL YEAR) Collaborate with the Sacred Heart University LEADS Volunteers to either teach multiple lessons throughout the duration of the program or serve as mentors & possibly help the High School Coordinator in whatever capacity they might be needed.
  • Filling out & organizing any paperwork pertaining to the High School Program, including student applications, permission slips, grant reporting etc.
  • Arrange transportation with WeTransport to bring students to Hall Neighborhood House for HNH L.E.A.D.S. Academy’s weekly sessions.
  • Arrange college tours with local universities or vocational institutions to expose students to different options of higher education post-graduation.
  • Setting up the space so that students can easily access the necessary supplies to take notes or participate in the planned activities for the day.
  • Work with the Grant Writer to ensure that the program is fulfilling the parameters proposed within the grant.
  • Set up guest speakers or artists to expose the students to new concepts of academic, professional or personal development & artistic expression.
  • Occasionally meet with the Youth Director to discuss any questions, concerns or needs for the program to run smoothly.

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
