Employment Type: This is a full-time, school-based, in-person role with some remote flexibility. This is a non-teaching position but requires an active Special Education certification in Tennessee. This role is designed for be a one-year role only for the 2022-2023 school year.
Salary: This role is on the teacher salary schedule and placement will be based on years of lead teaching experience.
Overview:
We are hiring for a High School Special Education Case Manager who will have the primary responsibility of providing case management for approximately 45 students with Individualized Education Plans. The Case Manager will not have teaching responsibilities, but will focus on providing case management and maintaining compliance requirements on campus, ensuring consistent and high-quality services are provided for all of our diverse learners. The case manager will serve as a key member of our Special Education team and must hold the core belief that all scholars can learn at high levels and it is a schools’ responsibility to be a place where that can be true.
Key Responsibilities:
Core responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Oversee the management of the Special Education program including completing of necessary paperwork and IEPs, management of parent and student communications, executing of student testing/screening, and meeting Department of Education’s compliance requests and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with Associate Director of Student Supports on implementing the vision and goals of Valor’s special education program.
  • Manage IEP compliance (Reviewing cumulative files, Reviewing IEPs, Reviewing lesson plans)
  • Review and manage case strategies for each scholar to ensure that the objectives of each individualized educational plan are achieved, and regularly communicate those results to relevant stakeholders.
  • Coordinate curricular resources to ensure IEP objectives are met effectively.
  • Provide ongoing consultation and guidance to enhance the education progress of students with special needs.
  • Consult and collaborate with teachers, school leaders, and related service providers (OTs, SLPs, School Psychologists) on student progress and/or curriculum accommodations.
  • Maintain on-going communication and follow-up with parents, including scheduling, preparing, and leading IEP meetings.
  • Facilitate staff, family and IEP team meetings to present data collection and assessment findings as well as individualized plan recommendations
  • Organize all individual student records and communications for digital archiving (IEP’s, monthly progress notes from teacher, parent input form, reports from evaluations, etc.)
  • Ensure compliance with the State of Tennessee and Department of Education laws and regulations for special education
  • Enforce, uphold, and exhibit each school’s values, student management policies, and culture
  • Own arrival duty and/or dismissal duty to support school-based needs, in addition to any supplemental duties asked of the team throughout the year

Requirements and Key Qualifications:
Required:

  • You hold a Bachelor's degree, with an advanced degree in education preferred.
  • Must have Special Education teaching certification issued by the state of Tennessee, or ability to transfer an out-of-state Special Education license to Tennessee.
  • You have at least one year of experience providing special education services in school-based settings, either as a Special Education teacher or Case Manager
  • You have a proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom and/or previous leadership position
