Job Duties

ODOT District 12 will be accepting applications for the Highway Technician/Highway Maintenance positions in our Clevland Location, located at: 3263 E. 44th St., Cleveland, OH 44127. You must have your Class "A" or Class "B" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) to be considered for this position.

What You Will Do

The successful candidate will must maintain CDL Class A or Class B along with tanker endorsement. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Operate Basic Equipment (such as but not limited to Loader, Chipper, Skid Steer, Mowers, Chainsaw)
  • Perform general Highway Maintenance duties.
  • Performs Snow and Ice control duties.
  • Perform Emergency Response, clean up and perform traffic control duties in a work zone or around an accident site.
  • Perform minor repairs & Maintenance on equipment.
  • Perform Miscellaneous labor and bookkeeping task, operates two-way radios.
  • Responds to general inquiries from the public.
  • This job may require overtime for emergency or planned maintenance operations.

Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & decimals, percentages & fractions; ability to read, write & speak common English vocabulary; 3 mos. trg. or 3 mos. exp. in operation of basic equipment.

Note: Applicant must have valid Commercial Driver’s License at the appropriate level pursuant to approved position description on file to operate motorized equipment of size & type regulated by section 4506 of Ohio Revised Code.

  • Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.

  • This position is overtime eligible per FLSA Standards.
  • If this position is filled internally, the wage rate will be determined in accordance with the contract.
  • Requires Valid Commercial Driver’s License, Class “B”, with a tanker endorsement and without air brake restrictions.
  • All Bargaining Unit new hires MUST serve a one (1) year probationary period. Position will be filled pursuant to the provision of the OCSEA/AFSCME Contract.
