Our Home Care Providers assist with the personal needs and comfort of those in their own home under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse. As a Home Care Provider, you will work under the scope of a Home Health Aide. Some areas of care that our Home Care Providers may assist our clients with include light housekeeping, companionship, preparing meals, transportation, mobility, hygiene, and bathing. Home Care, Recharged provides care to convalescent adults and seniors.

Home Care Providers General Requirements:

  • Must be, 21 years of age or older; (must be 25 years of age or older, if required to drive company vehicle)
  • Determined Eligible by the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) Level II Background Check
  • Determined Eligible National Sex Offender Registry, OIG Exclusion List, and Motor Vehicle Record Check
  • Successful passage of Pre-Employment Drug and/or Alcohol Screening, then as required
  • Maintain a Valid Driver’s License
  • Maintain Required Motor Vehicle Insurance and provide Proof of Insurance as required
  • Complete and maintain Job Specific Training as required
  • Have and maintain a safe reliable vehicle that has working air conditioning and heat, seatbelts, and is operational with working lights, working windshield wipers, rear view and driver/passenger side mirrors, and any other requirements as required by FDLE. The vehicle must be free from strong odors and obstacles for safe transfers in and out of the vehicle. (The Agency may perform employee vehicle inspections to determine appropriateness for client patient transport, per policy)
  • Must meet physical and health requirements of the Home Health Agency
  • CPR Certification (current and maintain) through an Agency preferred Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Instructor/Program that includes Hands on training; For the applicants that are given and meet the conditional job offer requirement, the agency will aid employees in obtaining this requirement prior to employee being allowed to provide direct care. The agency will not accept online instruction for initial or renewals for any HHA.

Home Care Provider (Home Health Aide) QUALIFICATIONS:

“Home Health Aide” means a person who is trained or qualified, as provided by rule, F.S. 59A-8.0095(5)(d-e), who has :

  • Successfully completed a Training and Competency Evaluation Program as specified in State and Federal Regulations, F.S. 59A-8.0095(5)(d-e) OR
  • Successful passage of the competency tested as stated in paragraph (j), pursuant to section 400.497(I), F.S.:
    • Communication Skills
    • Observation, reporting, and documentation if client or patient status and the care or services provided
    • Reading and recording temperature, pulse, respiration.
    • Basic infection control procedures.
    • Basic elements of body functions that must be reported to the Director of Nursing
    • Maintenance of a clean and safe environment
    • Recognition of emergencies and applicable follow up within the home health aide scope of practice
    • Physical, emotional, and developmental characteristics of the population served by the agency, including the need for respect for the client/patient, his/her privacy, and his/her privacy
    • Appropriate and safe techniques in personal hygiene and grooming including:
      • bed bath
      • sponge bath
      • shower
      • shampoo (sink or shower)
      • nail care (file only)
      • oral hygiene
      • care of dentures
    • Safe transfer techniques, including proper use of appropriate equipment, and ambulation
    • Normal range of motion and positioning
    • Nutrition and fluid intake
    • Cultural differences in families
    • Food preparation and household chores
    • 2 Hours of training in Assistance with Self-Administration medication (pursuant to Section 400.498, F.S.)
    • HIV/AIDS training
    • Alzheimer’s Disease and Other Dementia training and,
    • Other topics pertinent to home health aide services
  • Determined proficient by completing all Job Specific Training, and State of Florida Home Health Aide Competency Test after Conditional Offer made, then again as needed, annually at a minimum.
  • Ability to demonstrate an attitude towards all clients/patients, personnel, and others that are encountered during working hours.
  • Good mental health and the quality of retaining emotional stability in situations of varying circumstances.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Able to walk, climb stairs, stoop, twist, bend, and squat to perform essential job functions.
  • Able to speak, read and write in English.
  • Able to read assignments, follow directions.
  • Able to follow written and verbal instructions/directions
  • Able to communicate and respond clearly on the telephone and respond to client/patient’s spoken needs.
  • The ability to physically transfer, lift or assist client/patients whose average weight is 160 pounds with or without the aid of mechanical devices.
  • Able to spend 80% of the work standing and/or moving about.
