The Parents as Teachers Home Visiting Program serves families in Manitowoc County. This voluntary program provides home visitation services aimed at preventing child abuse and neglect while promoting positive parent-child interaction. The Home Visitor works to address maternal and child health, positive parenting practices, safe home environments and access to services in a culturally sensitive manner. Services are provided through visits in the home and monthly group events.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Build relationships with families through active listening and non-judgemental compassionate care.

Provide regularly scheduled visits with diverse parents and their children to deliver a strengths-based curriculum designed to teach basic parenting skills and child development.

Maintain records, intake forms, statistical data and other documentation. Comply with all confidentiality requirements, participate in agency staff meetings, networking meetings, professional development sessions and other events as directed.

On-going professional development opportunities are available.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree, Associate degree or relevant experience. Persons with lived experience are encouraged to apply.

REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must have reliable transportation to travel throughout the county, possess a valid Driver's License and proof of car insurance. Mileage for traveling to work-related events and meetings is reimbursed by the agency.

Employment is contingent upon the results of a background check.

This 30 hour a week position is eligible for immediate holiday pay and health insurance within the first 30 days. Other benefits available after a successful 90-day introductory period include: paid vacation, personal time, sick time, 403b/retirement, reduced YMCA membership, and optional insurances of dental, vision, life, accident or critical illness.
