HOPE 4 Youth is a nonprofit organization in Anoka County that helps young people, ages 16 to 24, who are experiencing homelessness. Our name is an acronym for our core services: Housing, Outreach, Prevention, and Education/Employment. Our mission is to provide pathways to end youth homelessness. Our vision is that all youth will feel safe, valued, and supported while reaching their full potential. This begins with meeting their basic needs and leads to giving them the tools to thrive. We serve youth through a Drop-In Center, HOPE Homes, and HOPE Place. Our approach utilizes trauma-informed care, is strengths-based, is client-centered, and focuses on harm reduction.

JOB SUMMARY:

The HOPE Place Program Supervisor is responsible for oversight and supervision of the daily operations of HOPE 4 Youth’s 12-unit transitional living facility located in Coon Rapids. The Program Supervisor provides the youth residing at HOPE Place with individual case management and ensures all youth are supported, encouraged, and provided with the resources and help they need on their path towards independence and self-sufficiency. This position plays a key role in ensuring programming and delivery of services utilizes best practices in the areas of trauma-informed care while ensuring strength based, client centered, and harm reduction philosophies are in place to achieve successful outcomes for the youth we serve.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Facility Management

  • Perform unit checks at least once per month with each resident.
  • Provide direction and supervision of resident employees (cleaning, snow removal, etc.).
  • Ensure site is clean, properly maintained, and safe for youth and staff.

HOPE Place Program Oversight

  • Work with Anoka County’s Coordinated Entry Process and other referral sources on placement of youth in H4Y’s transitional living facility.
  • Work with Senior Program Manager to complete intakes/assessments and ensure all documentation and forms are completed and submitted for participants receiving subsidy from Anoka County and other service providers, including documentation needed for Group Residential Housing (GRH) subsidies.
  • Complete and submit all forms and information needed for ongoing reporting to Anoka County and other external organizations related to subsidies and public assistance programs that participants qualify for and are receiving benefits from.
  • Meet with each participant to provide one-on-one case management at least once per week. Assist with setting and achieving goals, provide encouragement and support, create a safe and supportive environment, and help them with access to the resources needed as they work towards independence and self-sufficiency
  • Explain, monitor, and enforce house rules, report lease violations to Senior Program Manager.

  • Utilize Client Track and HMIS databases to maintain client records, case notes, program statistics, and other data required by funding sources and ensure data privacy practices are followed.
  • Provide program data reports and information for internal use, external constituents, and funders.
  • Coordinate and facilitate group meetings, classes, workshops, and activities for all participants.
  • Monitor and respond to internal and external communications in a timely manner.
  • Provide backup coverage for Welcome Desk as needed.
  • Attend appropriate agency and community meetings.
  • Recommend changes for the betterment of the organization’s programs, and help ensure programming is grounded in best practices for serving youth that are homeless in our community.
  • Oversee HOPE Place volunteers and ensure they have the proper training and guidance.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Must have 3-5 years of experience working within non-profits or a service organization and 1-2 years supervisory experience; preferably working with at-risk or youth that are homeless aged 18-24.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Volunteers are an integral part of our work and culture at HOPE 4 Youth. All staff must embrace volunteers as an integral part of the organization, and be willing to manage, supervise, work alongside, and foster good relationships with volunteers.
  • Must be able to work effectively in a diverse, mission-driven agency committed to the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion with respect to race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual-orientation, socio-economic status, nationality, and religion.
  • Familiarity with nonprofit organizations and an understanding of youth homelessness, a commitment to the mission, and the ability to effectively articulate the values and mission of HOPE 4 Youth to others.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with youth, families, and community service providers is needed.
  • Requires a firm grasp and understanding of effective crisis intervention and trauma-informed care with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Strong computer skills with proficient in MS Word and Excel and be able to produce letters and reports of professional quality. Experience with ClientTrack database and HMIS state database preferred.

Licenses and/or Certifications:

  • Valid driver’s license, access to reliable transportation, and the ability to meet H4Y’s driving record requirements. Please note that if the license was not issued in the state of Minnesota, you have 60 days after becoming a Minnesota resident in which to apply for your Minnesota driver's license or permit (not applicable for new hires living out of state and working remotely).
