Full Job Description

As Maintenance Technician, you will perform general repairs in and around the hotel as needed to ensure the hotel remains in good physical condition for guests. This is done through preventative maintenance and responding quickly to requests from guests and other team members.

How will you do this? The following are the essential functions and responsibilities of the job:

  • Receives written work orders via our online app or verbal instructions.
  • Performs a variety of repair and maintenance tasks, including, but not limited to carpentry, plumbing, caulking, electrical work, painting, and masonry.
  • Responds in a timely manner to all guest and employee requests for maintenance assistance.
  • Maintains all fixtures and equipment according to preventative maintenance schedule and records such maintenance in logbook.
  • Replaces worn or damaged parts such as hoses, wiring, and belts, in small machines and equipment.
  • Assists other departments with moving furniture and unloading and storing supplies.
  • Cleans internal areas of buildings, including sweeping and mopping.
  • Maintains cleanliness of public areas, storage areas, and parking lot.
  • Empties trash cans and consolidates trash for weekly pickup.
  • May operate snow removal equipment to maintain parking lots and sidewalks.
  • Maintains overall property maintenance including exterior, and interior.
  • Keeps accurate records of key controls, and assists with lock access.
  • Responds to guest requests and complaints timely, efficiently, appropriately and in a friendly manner; escalates complaints to management when necessary.
  • Ensures good relationships with internal and external customers, guest, and contractors.
  • Maintains professional image at all times through action, appearance, and dress.
  • Operates in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws including OSHA and health code laws.
  • Assists with other hotel departments, I.e. parking lot security, housekeeping department projects, food & beverage, and customer service.
  • Follows Company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or management.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

  • Specialization in technical crafts (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.) is prefered. An ability to advance knowledge in these areas is essential.
  • Speak, read, write, and comprehend the English language, proficiently. Ability to speak other languages in a multicultural work environment can be extremely helpful in facilitating good communication among all hotel team members and guests.
  • Commitment to delivering exceptional high level customer service.
  • Able to utilize quick thinking and apply quick resolution to hotel maintenance issues in accordance to the hotel standards.
  • Able to work in fast paced quickly changing environment.
  • Able to prioritize, organize, and manage multiple tasks.

EDUCATION

High School Diploma or GED equivalent; two years of college or vocational training in electrical or mechanical engineering or plumbing, would be nice.

EXPERIENCE

Previous facilities/hotel or apartment maintenance, plant operations or engineering services experienced would be helpful.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

No supervisory requirements for this job.

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES

Valid driver’s license required. Pool certification would be nice, or ability to attain within 120 days. Certification or specialization in one or more technical craft (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.) would be nice.

GENERAL NOTES

  • Maintenance Technicians will be required to work varying schedules as dictated by the business needs of the hotel. This includes attendance at all scheduled brand and job specific training sessions and meetings. May require nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Consistent attendance in accordance to the standards set forth by HOA must be maintained and is an essential element of the success in this role. If Maintenance Technician is unable to meet these requirements, he/she will be subject to disciplinary action based on franchisee operating policies, up to and including termination of employment.
