Position Overview/Summary:

The Rapid Re-Housing Housing Peer Support Specialist provides peer support and housing-related services as defined within the contracted assignment; participated in outreach duties; provides housing retention support on a peer level; coordinate with the RRH team to provide peer-based support on apartment showings, applications and providing support for folks we are supporting.

Responsibilities:

Support peers in achieving housing goals through housing search and retention activities.

· Provide Peer Support for peers we’re working with to find housing during the housing search process as well as with housing retention.

· Provide community outreach services for peers we are struggling to engage with or who struggle to find their way into the office.

· Provide Peer Support during apartment showings, appeal meetings, completing applications or other situations where Peer Support could be a helpful presence.

· Work closely with the rest of the RRH team to provide follow up support to recently housed peers who struggle with loneliness, unwanted guests or other tenant issues.

· Help communicate peer questions/concerns to the rest of the RRH team, landlord or other stakeholders if the peer we’re supporting isn’t comfortable doing it themselves.

Support peers in securing and maintaining stable, safe housing with a harm reduction mindset.

· Be a support for peers we are supporting in their recovery journey.

Participate in outreach and engagement activities.

· Develop and maintain relationships with peers to promote trust, safety and facilitate access to services.

· Monitor, assess, and intervene to support the safety of program spaces to maintain a safe, low-barrier environment.

· Actively work to ensure that peer information and privacy is protected in program spaces and in the community.

· Work actively with other agency programs to maximize the available resources to support peers with whom the program engages.

· Spend time in the community outreaching peers in an efficient, safe manner.

Contribute collaboratively and individually in support of the program and the agency.

· Demonstrate commitment to cultural sensitivity and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.

· Maintain knowledge of and compliance with Amistad’s policies, procedures, and legal obligations.

· Positively represent Amistad in the community.

· Actively participate in, assist, and/or facilitate agency activities and initiatives.

· Engage in regular Peer Support meetings and guidance with the Peer Trustee.

· Complete and maintain current status of all required trainings and certification courses.

· As an individual and as a member of team, promote working collectively in support of the mission.

Education and Experience.

Preferred

Personal life experience relatable to that of the peers enrolled in this program AND/OR a demonstrated understanding of and experience with the practice and principles of peer support.

Certifications and Licenses

Preferred

Certified in Intentional Peer Support or willingness to obtain certification

Physical Requirements:

§ Must be able to work outside for most of the day in all weather conditions

§ Sit, Stand, Walk

§ Must be able to ambulate up and down stairs

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $20.00 per hour
