PATH is seeking candidates with strong working knowledge of property management or real estate development to join out San Jose team as a Housing Specialist. This position will join out Street Outreach Program providing services in Downtown San Jose.

ABOUT OUR STREET OUTREACH PROGRAMS
Our Street Outreach programs work to engage individuals who are currently homeless and living on the streets in an effort to provide and link them with services that will ultimately lead them to stabilize in housing long-term.
WHAT IS A HOUSING SPECIALIST?
As part of the Street Outreach team, the Housing Specialist provides landlord outreach and engagement services to develop and connect people experiencing homelessness with a full range of permanent housing opportunities. Responsibilities of the Housing Specialist include:
- Creating property and landlord portfolios
- Identifying and developing partnerships with agencies and existing landlord outreach and engagement programs to share resources
- Overseeing the design and implementation of a marketing campaign that educates community stakeholders and potential partners about the goals, objectives and benefits of working with PATH.
- Assessing units for fair market value and/or rent reasonableness
- Conducting Housing Quality Standards (HQS) inspections to verify that units meet all federal and local housing requirements and coordinating corrections with landlords to ensure compliance and timely move-in
- Providing education on fair housing and landlord and tenant rights and responsibilities
- Collaborating with case managers to ensure clients are well-informed about the housing application and leasing process
- Assisting with housing applications, the completion of supportive and subsidized housing paperwork, surveying rental market for affordable housing, identifying appropriate permanent housing options, and advocacy with prospective landlords
WHAT YOU BRING
We're looking for candidates that:
- Possess strong interpersonal skills as demonstrated by the ability to foster successful collaborative relationships with a diverse range of individuals including clients, staff, and community partners.
- Maintain and execute confidential information according to HIPPA and all other applicable standards
- Take a non-judgmental, respectful approach when working with individuals with urgent and multiple case management and health needs
- Work just as well independently as they do on a team
- Exercise mature judgement, and are highly motivated, self-starting and proactive
- Are excellent at communicating, whether in writing or verbally
- Have a strong sense of prioritization and can coordinate multiple demands in a high-pressure environment
- Effectively solve problems and resolve conflicts
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
An excellent candidate for this role will:
- Have lived experience with issues related to homelessness, mental health, or substance abuse
- Have knowledge of homeless programs and housing subsidies
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
To be considered for this position, we require all candidates:
- Hold a Bachelor's Degree in a related field OR have an equivalent combination of education and/or experience
- Have at least 2 years of experience working with property management and/or real estate development companies
- Demonstrate the ability to work with a wide variety of property management and real estate companies
- Be proficient with computers and technologies used for work outputs including:
- Microsoft Office software, particularly Excel
- Database Systems, demonstrating the ability to effectively track outcomes and develop reports
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS
Regardless of qualifications, for this position all prospective employees must:
- Be able and willing to work flexible hours which may include evenings or weekends
- Have employment eligibility verification
- Have or be able and willing to obtain CPR/First Aid training
- Provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination
- Successfully complete the following as a condition of hire:

- Background Screening
- Drug Test
DRIVING
Driving is an essential function of this position. To meet the employment requirements for this role, all candidates must:
- Have reliable transportation
- A valid driver's license
- Proof of insurance and ownership for personal vehicles used during work duties
- The ability to qualify for PATH's insurance coverage
COVID-19 VACCINATION
Effective 11/01/2021 PATH will require all employees to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. All prospective hires will be expected to provide proof of full vaccination as part of the pre-employment credentialing process.
