OBJECTIVE AND POSITION SUMMARY

The HR Advisor role is responsible for strategically aligning business objectives with employees and management in designated business units across multiple states. The position cultivates partnerships while delivering value-added service to management and employees that exceeds the SLA of the organization. The HR Advisor helps to equip management with the business acumen they need to be successful.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position may have supervisory responsibilities and will collaborate with several team members and programs across CPLC.


SPECIALIZATIONS

  • The HR Advisor maintains an adequate level of business literacy to include but is not limited to the business unit's financial position, its midrange plans, its culture, and its competition.
  • The role uses a wide degree of creativity, adaptability, and knowledge to meet the challenges faced daily.
  • Experience with employee relations, conflict management, change leadership, employee coaching, and project management are essential to successfully complete the primary functions of this role.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Conducts meetings with respective programs and business units to provide HR guidance as needed or requested regarding employee relations; HR policies, performance management, or staffing changes to meet business needs, and/or disciplinary action.

2. Enhances employees’ professional development to align with program and organizational objectives.

3. Displays a high degree of HR business acumen, relationship building and the ability to influence others.

4. Effectively interacts and influences executive leadership by presenting business cases that warrant a strong business necessity.

5. Plays a vital role in partnering in program audits, and liaising with the compliance team to meet requirements, as necessary.

6. Works closely in an advisory role with management and employees to drive employee engagement, increase morale, and boost productivity and retention.

7. Conducts effective, thorough, and impartial workplace investigations for CPLC. Enters all employee relations cases into Ethics Suite.

8. Maintains in-depth knowledge of current HR legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, mitigates legal risk and exposure while ensuring regulatory compliance including, but not limited to: EEOC; DOL; ADAAA, and OCR regulations. Verifies proper employee documentation is obtained and maintained for all assigned programs and business units.

9. Provides advisory guidance on business unit growth, restructuring, workforce planning, succession planning and training alternatives based on performance and/or departmental need.

10. Gives voice to HR policy/practice guidance and interpretation.

11. Actively participates in HR corporate team projects and process improvement initiatives.

12. Submits progress reports to direct supervisor as warranted.

13. Identifies training needs for business units and individual coaching opportunities. Collaborates with HR team to create and facilitate trainings.

14. Maintains record-keeping systems related to assigned business unit.

15. Performs other related duties as assigned.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

Education /Background:

1. The ideal candidate will hold a master’s degree in Human Resources, Humanities, Organizational Leadership or a related area (preferred) and bachelor’s degree required. Minimally have three (3) years’ experience resolving complex employee relation and conflict management issues. Will have five (5) years relevant HR experience or working within a position where HR duties were a primary function of your job. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may meet the qualifications for this position. Candidate will hold a SHRM/HRCI certified HR credential or AWI certification or can obtain certification within one year of employment. PHR/CP/AWI or relevant certification, preferred.

2. Candidate will have a thorough understanding of Federal and State Employment Law required for states and/or region they support. Exhibits the ability to learn, navigate and apply laws quickly to other areas upon growth. Additionally, candidate will have working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, diversity, and performance management. PC proficiency with various software systems including Office 365, HRIS, and proficiency with ADP preferred.

3. Experience with leadership and employee coaching, and project management is essential to successfully complete the primary functions of this role. Sound judgment, a commitment to compliance and confidentiality, superior written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills and attention to detail are essential functions of the HRBP position. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Office Position: This position is both a mobile and a sedentary position with periods of light physical activity and is performed mostly in office surroundings. Positions typical in nature require regular walking or standing; sitting, lifting, and carrying up to 20 pounds; climbing stairs, bending, reaching, holding, grasping, and turning objects; and using fingers to operate computer keyboards. This position will require the ability to speak normally and to use normal or aided vision and hearing.

Travel: Local, interstate, and intrastate travel to Chicanos Por La Causa, Inc., its affiliates and/or subsidiaries, will be necessary to successfully fulfill the duties of this position. Candidate must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and auto insurance. Technology will be utilized to minimize travel whenever feasible. The travel requirements for this position are anticipated to be 25 to 35 percent assignment depending. Overnight travel must be approved in advance by Department VP.


Effective January 3, 2022, all CPLC Employees and all Service Providers, are required to be Fully Vaccinated against COVID-19. Newly hired employees, who are not Fully Vaccinated at the time of hire, are expected to begin a vaccination series immediately upon hire. CPLC recognizes medical and religious exemptions to the COVID-19 vaccination requirement, in accordance with applicable law and upon approval by CPLC. However, any person approved for an exemption, without exception, is subject to masking, and other requirements established by CPLC from time to time.
