Description/Job Summary
The HR Generalist is an operations focused role that serves as a knowledgeable Human Resource representative for assigned programs on employee relations issues, investigations, federal and state laws and regulations, RHD policies and procedures, performance management, employment law, affirmative action and other compliance initiatives.
Responsibilities/Duties
- Provide generalist consultation and HR expertise to assigned business areas, with a focus on general employment practices and procedures, HR policies, compliance, talent management, and performance management.
- Provide prompt response and follow-through regarding questions, concerns, and issues in an accurate and confidential manner.
- Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
- Supports investigations in collaboration with leadership, Legal, and Incident Management Departments
- Maintain a working knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the Legal Department as needed.
- Collaborate with other departments as needed, including but not limited to Legal, Benefits, Risk and Regulatory Compliance.
- Partners and supports projects working with the HRBP's on initiatives related to compliance, policy, training, staffing, and other HR related areas.
- Support AAP Specialists and Program Directors in implementation of Affirmative Action Plans.
Required Experience
Two years experience required.Required Education
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or other related disciplines.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of state and federal employment law and other human resources disciplines such as employee relations, recruiting, performance management, compensation, and organizational development.
- Strong analytical skills to include gathering and analyzing information.
- Demonstrated experience in exercising discretion, confidentiality, and independent judgment.
- Proficient skills in collaboration and communication effectively with employees across all levels of the organization and be able to demonstrate confidence while expressing opinion in a meaningful way.
- Excellent client management skills.
- The ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
- Travel (out of state and overnight) as needed
- Human Resources Professional Certification (SHRM or HRCI) preferred.
