The Opportunity

In this role, you will be touching numerous aspects of HR, but most importantly, leading the charge of finding talent for our Minneapolis office. You will focus on finding great talent, anticipating business needs and coaching our hiring managers to hire successfully through an inclusive lens. We don’t solely rely on rigid metrics to determine success - we also look at the impact in the form of successful long term hires and driving an innovative and streamlined recruiting process. We are looking to add a team member that pushes the status quo with a focus on finding innovative ways to find and attract talent.

In addition to finding the talent, you will also be responsible for the new hire orientation process for our Detroit, Minneapolis, and Des Moines offices! It’s been proven that a great onboarding experience sets the stage for an outstanding employee experience, and you will play an integral piece in delivering this outcome. Outside of onboarding and recruiting, you will assist and advise our Minneapolis branch manager on general HR issues. This role will report directly to the Chief People Officer.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Close the gap between recruiting and onboarding to provide greater retention and overall employee engagement - working closely with other departments to ensure a seamless integrative employee experience for Steam hires, with the ultimate goal of owning the onboarding process.
  • Present and coordinate our new hire orientation – teaching our new team the History of Steam, our Maxims, and Perfect Shipment concept. You will be working internally with our hiring managers to ensure our new hires have all they need to start their career successfully at Steam.
  • Gather IDs for employee verifications, complete I-9s, and enter new hires in the E-Verify and New Hire Reporting systems
  • Assist in phone screens for new candidates at Steam and provide tours for candidates for in-person interviews


What We Need from You

  • 1 or more year(s) of talent acquisition experience. Major plus if you are well-versed on HR topics.
  • Must possess a high level of intellectual curiosity and drive
  • Passion for Steam Logistics and an example of Our Maxims
  • Must thrive in a fast-paced and challenging environment
  • Must be self-motivated, disciplined, highly organized and able to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
