The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) is looking for a Human Resource Consultant 2 to help us Keep Alaska Moving!

What you will be doing:

Under the general direction of the Human Resource Consultant 3 (HRC 3), this non-supervisory position provides advanced-level professional human resources support to managers and supervisors of the Alaska Marine Highway System (AMHS). Provides advice and guidance to managers and informs employees on human resource policy and procedures in matters relating to personnel management, employee and labor relations issues, bargaining agreements, classification, and absence management. This position also assists the HRC 3 in Cost of Living Differential (COLD) determinations for the AMHS, a monetary entitlement specific to vessel employees. This responsibility includes confidential and thorough background investigations of all state applicants for COLD benefits, using various information systems, including but not limited to Permanent Fund Dividend’s historical information and helps perform annual audits of all employees receiving COLD benefits, and investigates any suspicions of falsified applications.

Your working environment:
Our office is conveniently located at 3.5 mile in Juneau, next to SEARHC and close to DIPAC Macaulay Salmon Hatchery, a central location with plenty of parking and a view of the channel. Telework may be an option for this position.

  • Research: Knowledge of the scientific principles, methods, and processes used to conduct a systematic and objective inquiry; including study design, collection, analysis, and interpretation of data; and the reporting of results.

“Training” and “education” in this guidance are synonyms for the process of acquiring knowledge and skills through instruction.
