Job Description:
As an HR Generalist-Recruiter, you’ll help to build and support our NVS veterinary care and administrative teams. The ideal candidate will be an individual who models the pillars of our core values, is a good communicator, a creative and independent thinker, and a go-getter! Demonstrates the ability to work in a collaborative environment with the ability to partner, train, coach, and stay abreast of industry trends and knowledge. The Generalists-Recruiter will work closely with location employees and management and receive support and partnership from NVA CF’s People Team and Field Operations Leadership.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct assistance to the onsite Human Resource Manager
  • Collaborate with the Human Resource Benefits Specialists as needed
  • Support staff and managers on day-to-day HR issues including employee relations, investigations, and general inquiries
  • Conduct HR process reviews as needed, ensure consistent application of policies and procedures
  • Communicate hospital policies and procedures to all employees and ensure hospital standards are met
  • Updating hospital employee handbooks as directed by the HR Manager
  • Ensure all HR hospital operations adhere to legal standards
  • Lead onboarding procedures in alignment with our company culture
  • Sources, screens, interviews, and hires talented and qualified candidates for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to define the skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Lead NVS recruiting, onboarding, and orientation processes
  • Develops and implements strategies that focus on the selection and retention of employees.
  • Support local and regional recruiting events and efforts
  • Develop, shape, and lead HR Special projects with guidance and feedback from the HR Manager, Hospital Leadership, and/or Compassion First Field Operations Leadership
  • Creates and calculates metric-based information (dashboards) related to retention of staff and assists the department in goal-setting of turnover.
  • Coordinates Veterinary and Technician students externships and works with the universities to attract new applicants
  • Plans, coordinates, and executes employee events and celebrations
  • Creates, maintains and updates employee records in HRIS and payroll systems
  • Stays well-informed of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and recent technologies in human resources and employment law.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by manager



Skills/Requirements:
  • Proven work experience within the HR Field; generalist, recruiter, or/other similar role required
  • Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations required
  • Hands-on experience with Human Resources systems (HRIS & Talent Management Systems) preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and negotiation skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated individual who can manage and deliver on multiple projects
  • Ability to build strong relationship-building skills, finding ways to go the extra mile with clients and partners
  • High integrity and professionalism
  • Strong time-management skills and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated proficiency with office software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required
  • Some existing knowledge of animal health/medical field preferred



Physical Requirements:
  • Able to sit, stand, walk for extended periods of time
  • Able to perform all duties and responsibilities as described
  • Able to function as a team member within veterinary hospital setting
  • Able to be positive, supportive, and encouraging as needed
  • Able to travel as needed between the two hospital sites as needed
  • Able to travel as required to attend a variety of recruiting events, meetings, and University campuses within the local region

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field experience required



Experience: 2 or more years of Human Resources experience.

Licenses/Certificates: Professional certification (SHRM-CP/SCP, PHR, SPHR, etc.) preferred
