DESCRIPTION

The Employee Relations Analyst I assists in the administration of human resources policies and procedures that relate to employee relations, training and development. Researches and analyzes data pertaining to human resources training and employee relations. Initiates and conducts timely investigations, prepares documentation and makes recommendations for corrective/disciplinary actions. Develops, delivers and tracks training programs.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct New Employee Orientation, Lunch and Learn program and assists in the development of other identified trainings
  • Process Requests for Personnel Actions. Prepares and maintains Department of Labor Separation Notices and Requests for Information from the Department of Labor regarding unemployment claims, appeals and related issues. Represents Augusta Georgia on unemployment claims by phone or in person.
  • Conducts initial in-take of employee complaints, investigates workplace grievances, and analyzes employee relations and performance management activities.
  • Develops and maintains accurate records and databases in order to prepare reports and statistical data regarding historical and relevant information; provides recommendations and suggestions based on the information obtained.
  • Provides ADA, ADEA and leave case coordination and assists in successfully resolving any identified issues. Prepares reports and other statistical data as needed.
  • Evaluates department’s training needs and assists in organizational development activities. Assists with development and implementation of employee training curriculum and sessions based on needs assessment and certification requirements. Monitors and tracks training for employees.
  • Coordinates employee relations programs including but not limited to incentive and recognition programs. and meets with departments to evaluate personnel policies and practices related to employee relations and implements recommendation and actions to improve relations
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor's Degree, Associate's Degree, or High School Diploma based on experience.

Experience: Bachelor’s Degree with no experience required, three (3) years with Associate’s Degree, or five (5) years of professional human resources experience with a High School Diploma, to include employee relations; research and analyzing data; and training.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • In-depth knowledge of federal, state and local employment laws including Augusta-Richmond County HR policies and procedures.
  • Ability to organize and present data and materials in an effective manner.
  • Ability to lead, teach and motivate employees.
  • Skilled in public and interpersonal relations.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to interpret, analyze and compile financial and statistical reports.
  • Skilled in interviewing and investigative techniques. Knowledge of employee relations program planning and management.
  • Knowledge of human behavior and group behavior; skills in mediation and conflict resolution.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communication skills Must be detail-oriented and organized.
  • Strong time management and customer service skills.

Certification: SHRM Certification (SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP Designation) preferred.

  • Physical Abilities: Tasks require the ability to perform sedentary to light work.
  • Environmental Factors: Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
