ABOUT THE COURT
Superior Court of California, County of Los Angeles (Court) is the largest unified trial court in the United States. Its 580 judges and commissioners work in one of the 40 facilities within the Court's 12 judicial districts and are supported by more than 4,600 full-time Court employees. The Court has an annual budget of approximately $1 billion. The Court plays a significant role in the rich diversity of Los Angeles County as it serves and provides access to justice to more than 10 million residents across 4,000 square miles in 88 cities.

ABOUT THE POSITION
The Human Resources Business Partner supports managers and supervisors with aligning the Court’s business and operational goals with human resources practices; performs responsible and complex professional activities in support of the court's human resource management programs in multiple functional areas, including recruitment and selection, performance management, employee relations, performance appraisal, organizational training and development; and performs related duties as assigned.

TELEWORK OPPORTUNITIES
This position is eligible for telework following an initial training period.

SELECTION REQUIREMENTS:

To qualify, you must meet the following requirements at the time of filing:

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university* -AND- Three years of progressively responsible analyst-level experience in one or more human resources functions.

Note:
Credit for experience is given based on a 40-hour workweek. Part-time experience is credited on a part-time ratio, i.e., working 20 hours per week for two months equals one month of experience. No additional credit is given for overtime.


SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
All applicants must be able to show proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 prior to beginning employment with the Court.

You are considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 2 weeks after you:
  • Received a Johnson & Johnson (J&J)/Janssen COVID-19 vaccine, or
  • Received a second dose of a Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, or
  • Finished the series of a COVID-19 vaccine that has been listed for emergency use by the World Health Organization [WHO]

Individuals with a medical condition that prevents them from getting a vaccine, as verified by their medical provider, or those with a confirmed sincerely held religious belief that prohibits them from receiving a vaccine, may request to be excused from this vaccination requirement as a reasonable accommodation to their medical condition or religion. The Court will review requests for accommodation on a case-by-case basis consistent with its existing procedures for reasonable accommodation requests.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate will possess the following desirable qualifications:

  • Prior experience as a lead or Supervisor in Human Resources.
  • Demonstrated experience in human resources strategic planning; project management and facilitation; business process reengineering; and/or policy formulation.
  • Experience analyzing complex human resources and administrative problems and implementing solutions to achieve results.
  • Experience evaluating alternatives, making recommendations for, and applying innovative solutions to complex problems.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills including the ability to prepare written reports, effective email communications, create and deliver presentations to diverse audiences including employees, managers, stakeholders, and others.
  • Experience in a variety of technology and modern workplace collaboration solutions.
  • Project Management Certification (i.e., PMP, Six Sigma).
  • Human Resources professional certification (i.e., PHR/SPHR, SHRM Certification, CLRM).
