Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs-Finance & Human Resources

Job Description


This position will provide support to the division of Student Affairs in the areas of recruitment, retention, employee relations, training, and investigations. The incumbent will support strategic initiatives through information analysis, review, and interpretation at both the division and campus level.

Recruitment: Serves as liaison between Recruitment and the Hiring Manager, develops and advises on the sourcing, interviewing, selection and hire process. Assists and guides process completion and related programs, policies and procedures including but not limited to: recruiting, hiring, offers, immigration assistance. Implements new hire orientation and on-boarding programs, acts as the point of contact for new hires throughout their hire and on-boarding to provide a strong transition into Student Affairs and, possibly, the University.

Employee Relations: Supports initial level of conflict resolution and investigations for student affairs departments, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the Sr. HR Manager. Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations. Counsels managers on job performance, compliance, and university policy & practices matters. In collaboration with the Sr. HR Manager, advises leaders on corrective action based on fact finding and evaluation of risks associated with specific actions and plans, executes and advises managers on transitions, terminations and off-boarding.

Training: Provides leadership & development coaching (staff, supervisors & directors) on University policies and procedures. Partners with the Sr. HR Manager in developing and leading training and efforts related to events including the annual performance review process, leave accrual changes, recruitment and on-boarding, leadership development, performance management and more. Partners with Student Affairs Professional Development Committee to support division wide professional development efforts. Recommends training or professional development as necessary.

Compensation & Classification: Provides support to departments in reviewing departmental structure. Provides guidance and support in completing the Position Classification Questionnaire (PCQ), develops position descriptions, coaches and performs evaluations on requests for pay changes due to reclassifications or other out of cycle pay changes.

Advises leadership on applicable federal/state regulations and University rules and regulations to improve policy literacy, ensure compliance and mitigate risk. Identifies / implements workflow changes and process improvements. Monitors, reports on, and is accountable for HR and business data to ensure accuracy and compliance with rules and target alignment.

Salary


Range: $48,900 - $65,000
GG Level: 10

Shift


Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week.

This position may require evening and weekend hours supporting activities and programs within the department. Occasionally division and campus projects may require additional hours outside of your normal schedule.

Minimum Qualifications


Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications


Three years of experience in human resource areas such as full-cycle recruiting, employee life-cycle management, policy advising, leadership development, employee coaching, investigations, and data collection, reporting and evaluation.

PHR or SPHR certification and/or Certified Professional or Sr. Certified Professional in HR
