Summary
Complete responsibility and accountability for the direction and management of the Company’s Global Human Resources function. Provides leadership in developing and executing day-to-day general human resources tactics, functions and overall human resources strategies to support the Company’s Strategic Plan, specifically in the areas of key organizational and management issues; establishes and implements sound HRIS, benefits, recruiting, organization, training, succession and retention plans to support strategic goals; manages employee and contractor relations, and is responsible for the development, management and implementation of annual incentive and other compensation and benefit plans and employee communications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Develop HR plans and strategies to support the achievement of the Company’s annual profit plan and long-term Strategic Plan.
  • Working both at a strategic and tactical, hands-on level, a) establish an organizational structure to effectively and efficiently achieve strategic objectives; b) implement a sound plan of management succession; c) hire, retain and train skilled employees or contractors needed to achieve strategic objectives; develop and maintain compensation and incentive plans which will engage and motivate employees to accomplish the Strategic Plan.
  • Maintain, change and implement comprehensive compensation; incentive and benefit and welfare plans that are competitive and cost effective and supportive of the Company’s strategies.
  • Monitor industry trends and employment/labor legislation and be responsible for the Company’s compliance in those areas. This includes NLRB actions and union avoidance activities for the Company’s contract labor, as well as foreign laws relating to employment or contract personnel in foreign jurisdictions.
  • Serves as internal advisor to the COO, executive management and department managers to insure decisions affecting employees and contractors are made consistently with the Company’s Strategic Plan and its employee policies and in compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws or foreign laws.
  • Reviews, assesses, and recommends change, as needed, to the organizational structure to enhance performance and drive profitability.
  • Manages recruiting and orientation, and the annual performance review process to evaluate the employee contributions.
  • Leads and implements management/employee development and training programs. This includes hands-on training and one-on-one meetings necessary, at all levels of the Company, for tactical implementation.
  • Annually reviews and updates, as needed, company policies, procedures and practices relating to personnel matters and contained in the Employee Handbook to reflect best practices and applicable law and communicates such to employees.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state and foreign reporting requirements.
  • Possesses current, in depth knowledge of human resource management, HRIS, compensation, benefits and associated legal issues with experience in a consumer products company, and, preferably with domestic and international sourcing, warehousing and distribution.
  • Demonstrates strong communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to listen within the workplace.
  • Possesses the judgment and knowledge as to when employee issues must be kept confidential or with limited disclosure.
  • Possesses the ability to gain the trust and confidence of senior management and all employees.
  • Possesses drive, patience and tenacity and discipline for hands-on, tactical interfaces at all levels of the organization to drive and implement the Company’s strategic objectives and HR policies and practices.
  • Represents the Corporation with honesty and integrity.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Manages employees in the department. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Human Resource Management (MBA/PHR or SPHR preferred). Fifteen years of progressively more responsible experience in Human Resources. Background in domestic and international sourcing, warehousing, thorough knowledge of employment, contracting, compensation, employee benefits plan design and administration, organization planning, employee relations, legal compliance, training and development. Superior interpersonal communication and presentation skills. Must possess a valid driver’s license. This position will require approximately 10% of domestic travel with the possibility of approximately 1% international travel. Must be able to obtain a valid passport.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills
Microsoft Office experience required. ADP Workforce Now preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
PHR, SPHR, GPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP preferred
