Job Summary:

The Human Resources Generalist supports the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources Department in the following functional areas: recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, and organizational development. This position works closely with supervisory staff and other departments to ensure compliance to company policies as well as federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintains knowledge of best practices and regulatory changes in HR and employment law including, but not limited to, FMLA, ADA, EEOC, ERISA/COBRA, ACA, AAP, and Worker’s Compensation/OSHA.
  • Handle all personnel files (both electronic and paper) to include creating, maintaining, and archiving files in accordance with company policy, state, and federal regulations, as well as accrediting standards.
  • File correspondence via document scanning system both accurately and timely.
  • Conduct audits on personnel files to ensure employee documentation is up to date. For documentation that contain expiration dates, obtain new employee documentation.
  • Provide support to the department regarding the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) to include, data entry, general reporting, troubleshooting employee problems surround the HRIS, and other tasks as assigned.
  • Maintain up-to-date list of open positions, communicate open jobs to internal and external partners, post listing to external job boards.
  • Conduct pre-hire processes to include, reference checks, background screening and drug screening results.
  • Maintain compliance with USCIS Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification to include the maintenance and periodic audit of I-9 forms.
  • Serve as primary contact for customer service function by answering general employee requests and questions.
  • Supports management with employee relations, performance management and policy interpretation.
  • Responsible for the general administration of company-sponsored benefit programs and 401(k).
  • Responsible for regular data entry and uploading of employment documents into personnel files/HRIS.
  • Prepare, support, and maintain a variety of reports using appropriate reporting tools (Excel, CSV, HRIS, etc.)
  • Assist in the administration of company-sponsored benefit program.
  • Reconcile department related invoices.
  • Maintain Worker’s Compensation claims information, update case information and send/receive correspondence.
  • Handles leave of absence administration.
  • Manages the unemployment process and serves as a representative at hearings.
  • Supports the Director of Human Resources in responding to employee complaints and investigations.
  • Maintains the operations of the department in the absence of Director of Human Resources.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or a Business-related field required.
  • In lieu of education, a minimum of four years’ experience required in the administration of Human Resources functions.
  • SHRM-CP or PHR preferred, not required.
  • Valid driver’s license and own transportation to locations within our service area.
