The Moving Through Cancer Initiative of the American College of Sports Medicine has a bold goal of making exercise a standard of care in oncology by 2029. One effort toward that goal is to fully populate the exercise directory on the Moving Through Cancer section of the Exercise is Medicine® website, followed by geospatial analysis to identify where there is a need for more programming to meet the needs of the nearly 17 million cancer survivors alive in the U.S. today.

Activities for this contractor position will focus on internet searches followed by verification of the identified programming through email and phone contact with the programs and professionals identified, processing applications for programs that apply to be in the directory, and maintenance of the directory. This person will work directly with the founder of the initiative, Kathryn H. Schmitz, PhD, MPH, FACSM, FTOS, FNAK and Robyn Stuhr, Vice President, Exercise is Medicine.

The goal is to complete all searches of 35+ states within a 6-9 month period. Other coordination and administration duties as assigned. This is a three-year contract with a maximum of 80 hours work time per month averaging 20 hours per week.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Basic knowledge of exercise oncology programming
• Skills in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail
• Self-starters only
• All work will be remote; you will use your own computer and phone.

• Outstanding work ethic required.
• Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.

Required educational background:

• Bachelor’s degree in exercise science or a related field.

Preferred educational background:

• Master’s student or completed Master’s degree

Preferred experience:

• 1-3 years' experience as a research assistant

Compensation:

0-1 year experience with a bachelor’s degree = 20/hour

3 years’ experience and a master's degree = 25/hour

Invoiced charges may not exceed 80 hours per month

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
