JOB SUMMARY

Construction Forms pipe outlasts our competitors, and the induction heat treating process is at the core of this advantage. The Induction Bend Operator works from blueprints and is responsible for the setup, operation and monitoring of our critical induction heating equipment. This includes loading raw material into feeding mechanisms, adjusting speeds during operation, cutting precise bends with a cutting torch, performing equipment changeovers, or setups for different materials. Once our product has been induction hardened and water quenched, the Induction Bend Operator verifies the quality of finished product and performs troubleshooting to overcome any quality concerns that may arise. Attention to detail, problem solving, adaptability, and a strong work ethic are essential in our fast-paced environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operates all equipment in a safe manner and uses safe work habits. Maintain a safe and clean working
  • environment including complying with safety procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Follows specifications or procedures for set-up, programming and machine operation using blueprints,
  • instructions and machine knowledge.
  • Mounts, installs, aligns and secures tools, attachments and fixtures using hand tools and precision
  • measuring instruments.
  • Selects, measures, assembles and sets machine tooling including replacement of tooling when
  • necessary.
  • Obtains jobs and materials utilizing the Dispatch List and a forklift.
  • Loads proper materials into machinery utilizing cranes as necessary.
  • Watches gauges, dials or other indicators to make sure machinery is working properly. Notifies a
  • supervisor promptly in the event a machine is not properly working.
  • Conducts tests and first run inspections of products to evaluate quality and tolerance.
  • Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to supervisor.
  • Accurately clock job transactions into ERP software.
  • Willingness to cross train and perform the work of other job tasks when necessary.
  • Travel between the Port Washington and Grafton facilities as needed.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

  • Production environment with some exposure to heat and cold temperatures. Outdoor exposure as
  • needed to gather materials from the outdoor yard.
  • Exposure to plant noise, fumes, grinding and cutting sparks, and cleaning solvents.
  • Water and wet flooring pertaining to the water quenching process on the induction bend machine.
  • Machinery and equipment including fork trucks, cranes, etc.

Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Five or more years operating complex machinery in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge and ability to interpret job orders, work instructions, and blueprints.
  • Advanced mathematical skills and ability to perform precise measurements with a level, caliper, and tape
  • measure in metric and standard.
  • Outstanding problem solving, multi-tasking, and mechanical aptitude.
  • Basic computer skills to accurately gather and input job transactions.
  • Capability to lift 50lbs with regularity and up to 70lbs occasionally.
  • Self-directed and able to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Valid drivers license for travel between Wisconsin facilities.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in hydraulics, pneumatics and machinery maintenance.
  • Knowledge of heat treating/induction heating.
  • Prior experience operating forklifts, jib cranes and overhead cranes.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS

  • [Intermittent (less than 15%), Occasional (15-45%), Frequent (50-75%), and Continuous (over 75%).]
  • Physical movement to include; continuous standing, walking, and twisting/turning. Frequent
  • pushing/pulling and reaching above the shoulders. Occasional bending, sitting, repetitive hand
  • motions/twisting, and forearm rotations. Intermittent squatting, kneeling, and climbing/balancing.
  • Lifting, up to 50lbs frequently and 70lbs occasionally.
  • Hand movement including simple grasping, gross grasping, and fine manipulation.
  • Vision; specifically, the ability to see both closely and at a distance, color, peripheral, depth perception
  • and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Driving both a vehicle and/or a fork truck.
  • Mathematical skill including counting, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, decimals, fractions,
  • units of measurement in metric and standard, metric conversions and tolerances. Ability to perform basic
  • geometry.
  • Reading comprehension including manuals, prints, job orders, work instructions, etc.
  • Deductive reasoning including the ability to define a problem, collect data, establish facts and draw
  • conclusions.
  • Clear verbal communication including the ability to talk and listen.
  • Typing on a keyboard and ability to manipulate a mouse.
  • Personal Protective Equipment including safety glasses, goggles, steel toed safety boots and rubber
  • boots, and hearing protection.
