ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
To perform and certify the results of specialized industrial hygiene, assessments and analyses.
JOB SUMMARY:
Job content involves conducting a variety of evaluations and recommending remedial measures for potentially hazardous conditions; planning, investigating and documenting direct and indirect factors regarding industrial health and safety concerns, accidents or situations; preparing reports and recommendations in compliance with state and federal regulations related to industrial hygiene; coordinating and conducting in-service testing and training at various work sites; and performing related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must possess the following: A valid certification as a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or eligible
-AND- a valid California Class C driver license
-AND- A bachelor's degree in industrial hygiene or a closely related field from an accredited college with
-AND- Five years of directly related, professional-level experience. A master's degree in a major directly affiliated with industrial hygiene may substitute for one year of experience.
Note: Applicants must be able to pass a medical evaluation to wear a respirator. Applicants must possess a certification as a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) issued by the Board for Global EHS Credentialing within 24 months of assignment.
EXAMPLES OF ASSESSMENT CRITERIA
The competitive selection process may cover a

Pertinent state and federal legislation and regulation; principles and practices of industrial hygiene in an industrial setting; and research methods;
-AND- the
ability to: Implement technical and administrative aspects of a centralized industrial hygiene program; collect and analyze technical data; maintain comprehensive reports; interact effectively with all levels of employees; develop and present employee training sessions; and utilize computer software programs related to industrial hygiene analyses and records.

Prior to appointment, a thorough reference check will be conducted. The recommended candidate must undergo a job related pre-employment physical, which includes a drug and alcohol test.
