American Iron and Metal, (AIM) is a growth-oriented metal recycling and processing company. We are currently recruiting for an experienced Industrial Maintenance Mechanic/Millwright to join our team for the Afternoon shift.

Responsibilities will include:

• Reading blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
• Installing, aligning, dismantling and moving stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment, such as pumps, fans, tanks, conveyors, furnaces and generators according to layout plans using hand and power tools.
• Operating hoisting and lifting devices such as cranes, jacks and tractors to position machinery and parts during the installation, set-up and repair of machinery.
• Inspecting and examining machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions.
• Installing, troubleshooting and maintaining power transmission, vacuum, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Cleaning, lubricating and performing other routine maintenance work on equipment.
• Assembling machinery and equipment prior to installation using hand and power tools and welding equipment.

Qualifications

• Experience working safely in a heavy industrial setting is an asset.
• Job requires working indoors, outdoors, exposure to the elements
• Proficient in welding is an asset.
• Able to conduct and complete scheduled Preventative Maintenance tasks and checklists
• Able to complete work orders and ensure parts that are used are documented for reordering.
• Eager to learn the proper operation and diagnostic capabilities of equipment.
• Able to work independently and stay focused and on-task.
• Able to prioritize urgency based on production requirements.
• Able to stay on task past regular scheduled hours to ensure completion
