Overview:
Industrial Wastewater Treatment Plant (IWTP) - Operator Lead is responsible for the planning, operations, and daily supervision of waste water related activities. Works on waste water related solutions exercising independent judgment in developing methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining program results in concert with and at the direction of the Site Manager. Plans, organizes, directs and controls the waste water processing activities.Subject to CBA.
Responsibilities:

Major Job Activities:
  • Operates to the best possible standards providing an uninterrupted water supply.
  • Perform specialized duties in the maintenance, repair, and operation of wastewater facilities and treatment plants, including industrial oily-water treatment plant.
  • Monitors Reverse Osmosis (RO) units and ancillary equipment parameters.
  • Makes adjustments to Water Plant equipment, ensuring operation guidelines are followed.
  • Starts, operates, and secures RO units and all associated auxiliary equipment essential to Water Plant operation.
  • Monitors Water Plant chemistry making chemical adjustments as necessary.
  • Maintains cleanliness of Water Plant.
  • Responds to Water Plant casualties with appropriate immediate and subsequent actions.
  • Ensures efficient and economical operation of station water production equipment.
  • Maintains logs as required.
  • Advises the status of water production equipment and systems.
  • Implements and maintains a safe workplace program, ensuring safety is the highest priority.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Material & Equipment Directly Used:

Personal computer, fax machine, fax modem and other standard office equipment.

Working Environment:
  • Must be capable of working in an extreme weather conditions.
  • Indoor and/or outdoor environment.
  • Includes some industrial production environment conditions.

Physical Activities:
  • Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents.
  • Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.
  • Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.
Qualifications:
Education / Certifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years of Water Treatment Plant or related technical school is highly desirable.
  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a U. S. Government Motor Vehicle Operator’s License.
  • Wastewater Operators License.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Active Secret Clearance.

Experience:
  • Industrial Plant and/or related technical schools are highly desirable.
  • Two (2) years in water production/treatment operations with Reverse Osmosis (or RO) experience.

Skills:
  • Knowledge of methods, equipment, tools, and materials used in skilled electrical and mechanical work
  • Knowledge of applicable codes, regulations, and standards
  • Knowledge of wastewater treatment, collection and pumping procedures and practices.
  • Operate light and possibly heavy vehicles and equipment.
  • Knowledge of operational characteristics of wastewater systems.
  • Uses and purposes of general construction tools and equipment and specialized high-pressure sewer cleaning equipment.
  • Occupational hazards and standard safety precautions and practices necessary in the wastewater work.

Supervisory and Budgetary Responsibilities:

This position has direct supervisory responsibilities and serves as a coach and mentor for other positions in the given service line.
