United Container Co. is seeking a highly motivated, self-driven inside sales expert to help us serve our existing business customers and develop new customers.

United Container Co. recycles corrugated shipping boxes for reuse and provides these boxes to our customers at a fraction of the cost of newly manufactured box.
We sell corrugated boxes and other packaging supplies to business and industrial establishments over the telephone by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Uses Contact Management software to record information on prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on information from telephone inquiries, internet responses, direct mail responses, sales lead lists purchased, business directories, and other sources.
  • Makes outbound lead follow-up calls to potential and existing customers by telephone, fax, and e-mail to qualify leads and sell products and services.
  • Handles inbound sales lead calls to convert calls into sales.
  • Records inbound and outbound customer and prospective customer calls with Contact Management software and sets appropriate call backs in computerized calendar.
  • Uses computer to search inventory and determine availability of suitable products to quote to customers and prospective customers.
  • Overcomes technical and business objections of prospective customers.
  • Provides product samples via UPS or e-mails pictures to qualified customers on request.
  • Emphasizes salable features, negotiates prices and credit terms within established guidelines, and prepares sales orders for orders obtained.
  • Estimates date of delivery to customer, based on knowledge of own firm's delivery schedules.
  • Builds and maintains customer relationships.
  • Enters new customer data and other sales data for current customers into Contact Management software.
  • Investigates and resolves customer problems with deliveries.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Willing to make cold calls to potential businesses.
  • Other duties may be assigned, depending on available time and abilities.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Previous experience in sales or customer service required. Computer experience with Windows based software including word processing software or contact management software is helpful.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

Reasoning Abilities

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Requires initiative and ability to work independently as well as in a team setting.

Salary

  • $18.00-$19.00
