Solar IT Program Description

Solar IT is a solar workforce information technology training program specifically adapted to Puerto

Rico’s labor market. The program is structured as a multi-tiered certification process for its participants.

Upon completion, the program participant will possess the required capabilities and skills for employment as a solar system designer, including the capability to complete solar and energy storage system analysis. Solar IT program participants will be well positioned to join the renewable energy employment market. Fundación Borincana’s Solar IT Workforce Development Program assists individuals attain critical skills certifying these program participants in the use of an industry-leading solar software platform. The program offers training services to employees, contractors, companies, and institutions of higher learning all over Puerto Rico.

Fundación Borincana is hiring and training talented local individuals to fulfill the Solar IT Program

Instructor position.

Key Responsibilities

The candidate selected to serve as the Solar IT Instructor will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Provide real world context to the learning process and to keep Puerto Rico market assumptions up to date and the program ahead of the curve.
  • Develop a database related to Program activities and curriculum with Program Manager and

Program Associate.

  • Be a regular contact for students and will participate in the provision of training/services to students.
  • Set up and continuously develop the on-line learning platform supporting the program with

Program Associate.

  • Set up and continuously develop the Enact platform.
  • Become proficient with the Solar Energy platform and use it to support program objectives.
  • Support the cohort member selection process
  • Support the cohort member job placement process.

Training will be provided in the use of Solar Design and Management software but preference may be shown to candidates who have completed the Solar IT Program course or can demonstrate prior experience with solar design software.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in finance, business, economics, or engineering or other relevant field
  • Relevant work experience is a plus, including experience with economic development, financial analysis, energy project development, lending or credit roles, etc.
  • Economic and financial modeling skills a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills in Spanish and English
  • Good experience with social media, communication, and CRM management
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems, and follow through on implementation
  • A passion for the Fundación Borincana’s mission and a desire to grow and learn on the job

Compensation

This position pays $20 an hour, commensurate with the candidate’s experience and qualifications. This is a full-time or part-time position and will not be eligible for overtime pay. Employment is at-will. The Solar

IT Instructor will benefit from on-going training and support from Program Manager and to build and improve skills in energy project development and finance.
