Join Interlochen Arts Camp this summer as one of our Creative Writing Instructors. The dates of employment will depend on the program the instructor is hired to support, however, the timeframe will be three or six weeks between 6/24/23-8/6/23. We are specifically looking for:

• One High School Poetry Instructor to teach two 110 min. poetry workshops per class day, 6/24/23-8/6/23
• One Intermediate Poetry & Playwriting Instructor to teach three 50 min. poetry workshops and one 50 min. playwriting workshop per class day to student in grades 6-9, 6/24/23-8/6/23
• One Intermediate Fiction & Nonfiction Instructor to teach three 50 min. fiction workshops and one 50 min. nonfiction workshops per class day to student in grades 6-9, 7/17/23-8/6/23 (second session only)
• One Environmental Explorations Instructor to teach four 50 min. sections of our Environmental Explorations elective (e.g. nature walks, observational writing, herbarium creation, flora/fauna/rock identification, nature writing) per class day to a mix of intermediate (i.e. middle school) and high school creative writing campers, 6/24/23-8/6/23

Examples of Responsibilities (varies based on program instructor supports):

• Teach either two 110 min. workshops 5 days a week for High School (9th-12th grade) OR four 50 min. classes 5 days a week for Intermediate (6th-9th grade) in either one or two of the following genres as determined by need: Poetry, Fiction, Nonfiction, Playwriting, Environmental Exploration
• Attend weekly Creative Writing faculty meetings
• Assist with organizing and hosting student readings at the end of each 3-week session
• Assist in the creation of the camp anthology published at the end of each 3-week session
• Teach 1-2 50 min. generative prompt class sessions (or master classes on literary topics of your choosing) per three-week session to all Intermediate campers

Required Experience:

• 
  MFA or MA in Creative Writing is required (except for Environmental Explorations position)
• Teaching experience at the high school or college level required
• Teaching experience with high school or middle school students preferred
• Experience teaching creative writing in the genre(s) to which you're applying

• Cover Letter - please indicate in your cover letter whether you want to be considered for the intermediate poetry/playwriting position, the high school poetry position, the intermediate fiction/nonfiction position, or the environmental explorations position; in the event that you would like to be considered for more than one of them, please make that clear.
