The Ocean Freight Forwarder is responsible for the expansion, through partner development, of our international freight forwarding business. The ideal candidate has NVO & VCO experience and will manage the provisioning of direct and intermediary ocean freight services of Intelage common carrier customers.

Responsibilities:

New Business Development: Ocean Freight Brokerage

  • Build and manage target client profiles and pipelines with commercial leadership
  • Execute discovery calls with target clients and create warm leads based on client needs
  • Become SME on Intelage's offering and build target client relationships through a consultative sales approach
  • Manage all freight associated charges, taxes, and fees to provide partners with low-cost and high-efficiency quotes
  • Build relationships with both origin and destination partners
  • Create and manage pre-sales slide decks, presentations, and promotional materials to share with potential clients ahead of scheduled discussions
  • Maintain customer communication tracking in internal CRM
  • Follow up with potential clients ad hoc and ensure every contact has a positive customer experience

Cross-functional responsibilities

  • Assist in creating opportunities for Intelage's current brokerage clients and drive revenue generation and growth through sales of the TradeDesk platform
  • Assist in top-down and bottom-up strategy
  • Build relationships in targeted markets
  • Assist in trade shows/conferences as requested
  • Understand local, national, and international maritime laws and governance
  • Understand and abide by NGFA Trade Rules
  • Understand and abide by GAFTA Trade Rules

Continuous Improvement

  • Develop and implement new strategies that continuously enhance ocean import/export operational procedures within the TradeDesk platform
  • Resolve partner freight issues and work on strategies to mitigate future problems
  • Be the voice of the customer by providing feedback from discovery calls to the product and commercial leadership team to help with offering and product iteration
  • Recommend necessary tooling, trade shows, association memberships, etc. to effectively engage with and bring on new customers
  • As an internal user of Intelage's TradeDesk platform, provide feature improvement feedback to the product development team

Sales Excellence

  • Coordinate all international partner shipments
  • Negotiate rates for partners using market intelligence derived from the TradeDesk platform and direct industry contacts
  • Prepare and manage all import and export customs documentation in the Intelage TradeDesk platform
  • Manage all insurance claims and due diligence
  • Cross-sell Intelage TradeDesk offering to new and current brokerage customers. Help customers understand the value of TradeDesk's optimization of import/export documentation, bidding, etc. that drive efficiency of container, truck, and rail logistics globally


Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience in ocean freight forwarding; ideally has a current book of business with common carriers, origin & destination partners
  • Experience with NVO & VCO freight forwarding
  • Direct account management experience is required
  • Exhibits a working knowledge of ocean freight industry and local, national, and maritime law
  • Working knowledge of international currencies and financial risk management/mitigation
  • Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business, or related field preferred (or equivalent work experience)
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment
  • Passion for sales and customer service/experience
  • Highly analytical with a strategic mindset
  • Knowledge of the problem we are trying to solve and the passion to solve it, sees the value Intelage brings to the Global Trade industry
