Job description
- Maintains appropriate and timely communication with students, parents, district personnel, and other partner agencies
- Communicates with appropriate grade level teachers and building personnel to facilitate inclusion opportunities, maintain pacing of academic instruction, and building wide activities
- Serves as primary instructor in all core content areas for assigned students on caseload
- Monitors all student IEP goals and services
- Establishes and maintains a highly structured classroom with scheduling, student behavior management, and academic instruction; includes planning delivery of engaging and academic activities
- Works in collaboration with the therapist assigned to the classroom to support the mental health and social emotional needs of students in the class
- Knowledge of Special Education Law
- Knowledge and application of Special Education IEP/ETR requirements
- Effective communication with district personnel and students/families
- Planning and delivery of standards based instruction

Job Title: Intervention Specialist

Summary: The classroom is located inside of Gaitway High School which operates in a nontraditional setting where students with emotional and educational needs are integrated into the daily workings of a nationally recognized therapeutic riding center. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned by the Administration.
Education/Experience & Certification: Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree; Must obtain and maintain a valid Intervention Specialist License with the State of Ohio Department of Education. Social Studies specialty preferred grades 9-12.
Criminal Records Check: Must comply with Ohio Revised Code 3319.39 – Criminal Records Check.
Drug Testing: Must pass a 10 panel drug screen at time of hire and comply with the Drug Free Workplace Act of 1988.
