Janitor

Summary

Employees in this job perform a full range of Janitorial to ensure clean and safe facilities for the YWCA. Tasks are normally determined by specific instructions from a supervisor or by following well-defined procedures, methods, and practices. This is a full-time position. This is the perfect position for someone works independently and is familiar with commercial and residential cleaning. We are looking for someone who is experienced to clean 4 of our sites.

This position has a social justice component that will require critical thinking around how the external systems impact the work that we are doing through the lens of racism and intersections with poverty. Knowing the core principals of antiracism work and grounding those principles in everyday work, as well as working well in non-white environments and championing anti-racism policy, are required job skills and core values. Responsibilities

Qualifications & Core Competencies:

Minimum Qualifications & Competencies

• Experience working in the janitorial industry
• Requires knowledge of cleaning & sanitation procedures, and ability to read MSDS sheets
• Requires knowledge of safety practices and lifting techniques
• Experience working with communities of color
• Demonstrated understanding of the intersection of racism and poverty
• Valid Washington State driver’s license reliable transportation, and insurance required

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum 3 Years’ experience performing similar duties
• Ability work and produce results with minimal supervision
• Knowledge of general Janitorial practices

Benefits

COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement

In accordance with COVID-19 safety practices, YWCA has a COVID-19 Vaccination Policy, and all new hires need to be fully vaccinated prior to their first day of employment. YWCA considers a new hire “fully vaccinated” when at least two weeks have passed after the date the employee received:

A second dose in a two-dose vaccine series, such as the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines; or

A single-dose vaccine, such as the Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) vaccine
