As a JAVA Developer, you will be performing development work for the New York State Electronic Case Reporting System (NYSECR) and on the other Bureau of Surveillance Data Systems (BSDS) applications that collect core COVID-19 data. Your day-to-day role will require you to interact with various BSDS systems and applications utilizing JAVA Persistence Architecture (JPA), Spring ORM, Hibernate, and JAVA/Weblogic. NYSECR is a case reporting system for NYSDOH BSDS. The system processes CDA XML document formats for Public Health data. This is a Java/Spring application that uses Hibernate and Java Persistence Architecture (JPA). The current backend database is Oracle. The web server is Apache, and the Application Server is Oracle Weblogic 12c. This role will be based in our Albany office.

Job Duties

• eCR application development and enhancement.
• Writing and testing NYSECR application code.
• Query optimization and code enhancement within the NYSECR application and other BSDS applications that collect COVID-19 data.

• NYSECR application server configuration.
• NYSECR application error log analysis.
• Maintenance of NYSECR database (Oracle) to support development needs of the ECR application.

Modification and creation of new tables in eCR database.

Required Qualifications

• An equivalent combination of advanced education, training, and experience will be considered.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in JAVA development is required.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience with Java/Weblogic.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience with Java Persistence Architecture (JPA).
• A minimum of 3 years of experience with Spring ORM.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience with Hibernate.
• Ability to work with and relate to staff and demonstrate active listening skills.

Job Type: Contract

Salary: $82.00 per hour
